I had this TA in college that every single day - middle of Michigan winter included - he wore shorts, a linux t-shirt, socks, and sandals. He also had a frohawk.

socks with sandals is on par with wearing a sweat shirt with shorts. They both defeat the whole purpose and you should diaf because of it.
