I always hated the run from FV outpost to LOIO as a good race. Doing that level 19/20 was super daunting due to all the spiders.

This never happened on P1999 so far, but I remember back on live Queen Klicnik used to cause some headaches. Sometimes people would aggro her to the zoneline and then on her way back she would attack anyone killing a fire beetle.

I even recall one time when the entire North Qeynos zone banded together to take her down. Sadly that was the closest thing to a raid I ever experienced on live lol

My first ever EQ death was a skunk on live. It felt like the end of my EQ experience, it was horrible. I spent care, and probably hours of time customizing a high elf mage. My starter robe was my most prized possession. I had a spell or two. I had chatted with NPCs, and discovered I could use /shout to get the attention of other players (poor etiquette of course I know now). I eventually ventured out in to the Greater Faydark...

I recall the countless noob allies slaughtering bats, and skeletons. I didn't quite understand combat yet, so I chose to explore. I listened to the song of a faerie for a quick minute. Gawked at the large obelisks (Combine Spires). Continued down a path to a sudden mountain path. My very first adventure! I was so excited, and as I came to Butcherblock Mountains I approached a skunk. Not yet understanding the /con system, I decided to take the skunk to meet his maker. I was dead so very fast that I didn't understand what had happened. My prized robe was gone, and would have rotted days later. A cloth shirt became my new prized possession until I came across a cracked staff...

Seriously though. Emperor D'vinn would single handedly wipe out all 30, 40, maybe 50+ newbs in Crushbone. That is quite impressive. He was desired for his dagger, and many failed attempts to acquire it meant for a bloodbath. That mage that spawns near the moat was a nightmare as well, but was he added later? Just what the newb zone needed... Another mob to keep the newbs at their bind points :P

This is part of the attraction of EQ to me, most games don't require eyes in the back of your head because they don't mix deadly KOS mobs in the same areas as xp mobs.

Not really a newbie mob at all... but my most hated green con mobs are the Scorpikis Guardians (http://wiki.project1999.com/Scorpikis_Guardian) in the ravine in OT (those bastards around entrance to Howling Stones [Charasis]). If they attack you, you're probably in trouble...

It is really fun when you put a bronze or fine steel 2h on a starter mob. It will go through about 2 or 3 newbs until you hear someone /ooc a couple mins later. WTF, I looted a fine steel off of a skele?

My most hated was Holly in Qeynos Hills.

Dark Assassin deserves a mention too, KOS 50rogue mob, the one in Feerrott roams like the entire second half of the newbie area and comes through trees to oneround people. Probably why all the smart ogres scoot to Innothule at lvl4.

And imo nothing mentioned compares to Mooto.
What sucks the most about a lvl10 goblin shaman running around an area designed for levels 5-9 is that shamans get SoW at lvl9. This bastage runs at chase speed around a huge chunk of the zone, and stops at every goblin camp to buff them up. Alot of the crap mentioned here is easy enough to strafe away from, but once Mooto caugh a whiff of your hairy feet you didn't make it to the guards.

The ice-bone skeleton wandering outside permafrost probably deserves a similar mention. He cons yellow when everything else is blue and chain casts Spirit Strike (71DD) between swings which is basically terrifying when you are level 12. I'd say this guy is scarier to lowbies levelling in everfrost than even the mighty Martar Icebear is!
