Yeah i paid the $150 to get into the alpha, im glad i did, the game is amazing. Beta starts fairly soon though so you'll all have the chance to check it out if you don't want to pay to try it.

We should start a p99 guild when it comes out, a month or two rumored. Maybe I'll set up a website at some point. Game looks awesome and I just built a new PC so I'm pretty confident I'll be able to run it.

Is this what I should be playing? Wildstar is not doing it for me.

Wildstar was really bad, i played it for like 20 minutes.

Wildstar sucked, this is my GOTY.

Yes there is really open world *SAME FACTION* PvP with the opportunity for being jailed if you attack your own faction and are 'brought to justice' by dying and racking up too many crime points.

Not to mention there's a shit ton of farming (literally) to do and lots of crap to grind.

If that doesn't sell you, then this will:

I'm excited for this, I think at least it will be somewhat interesting and provide some amount of entertainment which is more than a lot of previous games I've purchased lately.

The skillset system looks very Rift-like, which is good since that was the best thing about Rift.

Everyone I knew loved it. The only thing that sucked about the soul system is how many balance changes they made in the first few months. But it was awesome being able to fill multiple roles based on where/who you are grouped with.

I have a couple of friends who I'd be playing with coming home in a few hours. Hailtooooo, (or someone else who has been playing it) need you to get on voicechat with us and sell us on this game ! We all about to take the $150 plunge.

Thought that was one of the major reasons that made that game shit? Could be wrong but I could swear I remember a lot of people bitching about that.

The problem is Rift's soul system was shit, and this one's fairly imbalanced across the board, kind of like EQ's class system is/was.

As much as I liked Rift, they got class balancing done /perfectly/. You might think that's a good thing, as it means you have an equal chance of winning 1v1. Nope, it just means you have to outnumber people.

Let's face it, if the game has no skill ceiling, the game isn't fun. Rift's PVP was awful and PVE was mind-numbingly awful with the reaction/strat based gameplay mechanics. You couldn't play your class the way you wanted to.

Archeage allows you to play the game the way you want to play in most if not all of the content. That means you can kite with an archer, you can play a melee dps, or a spellcaster, and excel at any of them. And their class balancing is kind of set up so yes, there's a FOTM, but they all have counters and there's not just one of them. The skills are set up so utility is an actual useful thing again. I like that. Add in all the gimmicks like ship combat and it's like EQ with better PVP.

Early Rift was more like that with more imbalance and unique ways to set up to counter certain situations. There were some very powerful combinations, but they also had major weaknesses that could be countered by the right setup. Then they went about balancing things and really all they did was make every combination equally boring.
