View Full Version : What would Norrath's minimum wage be?

I am curious what everyone thinks the minimum hourly wage in the current p99 blue economy would be? Assume every race in Norrath would operate under this same minimum wage.

1pp/hr?

5pp/hr?

10pp/hr?

100?

Higher? Lower?

Thank you for your input.

How much does a basket of goods in Norrath cost?

Whatever the minimum wage is, you can say goodbye to its purchasing power, yay inflation~

I think 250pp/hr is the rate at which you'd get enough noobs to do all the menial noob work without bumping up against the seafury farming middle class.

hmm ok, well how much can you make by selling bone chips/batwings?

I would imaigne the min wage would be somewhere between what you can get away farming at level 1 (wings/chips), becuse thats so easy even someone on Norathian welfare can do it...

and say, farming bandits for sashes and the turn ins.. because after that you have to be a little more entrepreneurial to make money on your own.

Bandits would net you around 75pp an hour, wings/chips, would be about what 10pp an hour?

So my guess would be it would be somewhere around 20-50pp an hour.

I read all this in the Eurid library

I appreciate Iruinedyourday's thoughtful reply to this question. The rest of you are jerks, but that's okay and I still love you all anyway.

Maybe I should split this into two questions:

1. What is the *least amount of plat* you would be willing to accept per hour to stand in EC tunnel next to a fatcat and basically be another set of live bags for them? (Closest thing I can compare to unskilled labor working for a big corporation). Surely, these answers will differ depending on the player and their status.

2. What do you think a unified Norrathian government would establish this hourly rate to be? (minimum wage is not what you would accept, rather what establishment says you can/will accept)

There are no right or wrong answers... just good and bad ones.

1. I only have a couple hours per day (max) to have fun on EQ. Standing around EC doesn't strike me as worthwhile fun, even if I were selling a dozen Fungis in an afternoon and getting 100% of the profits. I'd rather be out and about bashing newbie stuff, even if I was getting less than 10p/hour.

TLDR: EQ isn't a job.

2. Unified Norrath government? Minimum would be slaves and if you don't like it, they find your spawn site and train you there until you die back to level 1.

1) To actively be sitting there in EC, for me personally 1.5k per hour, to sit there sorta paying attention, 250pp and if you have to text call me to get me to respond, 100pp.

2) 25pp, I am not some noob that never played EQ before, I know what i can make per hour so I would never accept this amount per hour. (kinda like real life)

A noob can make 5 plat per hour running bard mail from Felwithe to Kelethin. There's your ground rate. Too bad those cheapskate bards don't tip.

Yes I am, damn it.

And I also don't sell my self cheaply, unless you are a hot female wood elf that knows how to twerk.

My life has become definitely far more hilarious since I have added p99 to the mix.

That wouldn't work, because there's no guarantee on your return, where minimum wage would. Bat wings and such would be like a fairly low paying commission job.

I mean, if you consider the current minimum wage is the equivalent to a meal from any fast food restaurant, i'd say it's like, 1-2gp? That's about what an iron ration runs you at Shady lol
