View Full Version : Stealth nerf in latest patch

I have a 54 Druid. I've been camping SolA for Kindle's gloves for the last several days. Sitting in the room, there are 3 spawns plus the wandering ph for Kindle. Yesterday, it was trivial for me to hold the room. I'd log in, hit each one of the 4 with Breath of Ro, it would tick for 103 damage, and I'd let all 4 of them beat on me til they died, and be at 85-90% health when it was done. Rinse, repeat.

Today, after the patch, I log in and Breath of Ro is ticking for 92 and I'm getting wrecked. They are doing WAY more damage to me, and one cast of Breath of Ro wasn't enough to kill them. I had to gate out at 17% health with 3 out of 4 still alive.

I see nothing in the patch notes that would explain 1) my dots doing less damage per tick or 2) 20 level below greens doing 5x more damage.

Wtf is going on?

I think the idea of the AC change wasn't to buff AC but to make a lack of it more of a liability.

Shit was kind of ridiculous I think (Splorf?) posted before with logs about how his ENC barely took more damage than his WAR and both were 60.

id buy it for level appropriate mobs, but wouldnt think as bad for green cons

54 druid here. They nerfed Breath of Ro. It costs 250 mana for 92 damage per tick. It cost 225 mana for 103 damage per tick prior to the patch.

They also nerfed root. I leveled in HPK for most of 52 to now. I have never had a root resist or early break. Today, it did a handful of times on low blue and green mobs.

AC changes are apparent. I was taking a significantly smaller amount of damage prior to the patch. The same green and low blue con mobs now hit me for max nearly every time. I died once because I did not expect such a radical change.

Level 54 wolf form no longer shows as a black wolf. It's the plain old white wolf. Bah humbug to that.

I'm not thrilled with this, but it is what it is. I still think this is a great server and the people running it are awesome! I just wish that they mentioned all of the changes in the patch notes. =/

I hope this is true. Root has been stupidly overpowered here forever.

It looks like the AC changes basically made it a bigger part of the overall mitigation equation than level was (which was obviously the biggest factor in play). I'm going to do some testing later on and see...

That is exactly what is going on. It was horribly messed up with level difference making too much of impact.

Does it work the same way for NPCs, too? Like if I'm fighting something 10 levels above me that is a caster, will it be easier for me to hit them now?

And you never saw a problem with this? Root NEVER breaking early or being resisted?



Praise to HPH, some of us really miss the old EQ game mechanics and challenge. This patch is yet another step forward.

I hope this is true. Root has been stupidly overpowered here forever.

This. It was absolutely broken. I went two full levels with only two resists and all of my other paralyzing earth casts lasting full duration. I was basically rooting, dotting, and then completely ignoring my monitor.

Nice. And I agree with Byrjun on root. The 3 minute roots especially were omg-wtf-op.

Root Nerfed - Check

Robe of the Spring/Elder Spiritist Greaves Nerfed- Check

Breath of Ro Nerfed- Check

AC change that affects druids OP Plvling by tanking green cons /w a DS- Check

Many mobs had run speed increased - Check



seems like a typical patch to me.....why are druids always nerfed !!!!


( least Mask of the Hunter was fixed, thank gawd )

Oh no I fully understand these things and I'm sure charm is still way more powerful than it was on live.

its a nerf to charm killing because the basic strat is to keep either your pet or your pet's target rooted while charming. with less than reliable root you will see more random root breaks and more random root breaks while charm is off.

in tight spots where every hit counts this makes a life or death difference potentially. in open spots it means having to use more mana. in all places it means having to pay a little more attention to things.

i think anyone who plays a root rotting class at all has been well aware for a LONG time that root was WAAAAAYY over powered here. i can count on one hand how often my necro's root broke early as I level'd from 50 to 60...literally 1 or 2 times. it was super OP.

in other words, its a good change thats been needed for a long time.

I do feel sorry for druids. I had a cool druid on blue before red came out and massive amounts of my leveling strategy took advantage of long lasting roots and lack of a DD component to my druid dots.

charm breaks will suck a lot more with lower AC, and one of the best strategies for handling a charmed pet is to keep it rooted.
