I hope someone can help me here cause this is driving me nuts. My laptop crashes to a black screen at random times. It ONLY does this when Im playing EQ (works fine on other games including Crysis on the highest settings). The only way to get out of this apparent "black scren of death" is to do a hard shut down and restart. The strange part about it is Windows is not detecting any type of crash or failure in the event logs nor in the C:/windows/Minidump folder.
It's only detecting an "improper shutdown" which is Im pretty sure is due to the fact that I have to do a hard shut down to get video/audio back because there are no other indications of a total system crash. All the system LED's remain normal including the HDD activity light.
Video and audio drivers have been updated as was the BIOS.
I was wondering if maybe it was because I am running in a custom resolution (1440x800) but it just seems odd that it would cause a total lose of video on both of my monitors and audio as well.
I am also running on two cores and I read somewhere that the dual core and quad core systems were problematic on EQ but is that true for Core 2 Duo as well? Either way I EQ is already set to run on CPU 1 in Processor Affinity. So...
This also just started about a week ago but is becoming more frequent.
Was working fine for about a month before that.
Here is my system info:
MSI gx723
Proc: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P7350 @ 2.00Ghz (overclockable to 2.4GHz)
Mem: 4 gigs
OS: Win7 x64
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT130M
Integrated RAMDAC
CUDA
2287 MB total memory avail (shared with system memory)
Current display mode (1440x900) 32bit 60Hz
Audio: Realtek High Def Audio
Dual monitors (secondary monitor is a 19" Widescreen however the game is played on primary only)
Any ideas or hints/tips would be appreciated.
I am also running WINEQ2 for Windowed Mode
thanks
