Do you think the server would benefit from Trivial Loot Code as was implemented on Firiona Vie server?

Trivial Loot Code basically made any item that was lore or magic poof on any mob that was killed and didn't give exp to the person or persons that killed it.

I noticed that it was on P1999 at one stage, not sure how long Edit (actually one night I guess)

Serverwide Rares
Beginning with the unlock of Kunark and lasting only throughout that night, every mob on the server will have a very rare chance to drop high value classic items, such as the Guise of Deceiver and others. To promote fairness for all levels, and to prevent high level characters from slaughtering low level zones, these items will only have a chance to drop if experience was awarded for the kill (aka, the "Trivial" loot system). We may turn this feature off after enough items have dropped, so don't miss your opportunity!

What do you think, hate it or love it? I personally loved it because it meant you didn't have to compete with 60's farming low level items, but hated it because when I outranged some mobs I was prevented from killing them lol.

Mostly preferred it though since you could level up an appropriate alt to farm something you wanted to farm and didn't have to contend with someone murdering a whole zone for a green drop rare.

Would be cool but only if it is extremely rare and would have no chance of dropping if people were mass AoEing mobs.

Not classic.

Btw the thread you referenced was a one night event for kunark release in which items that no longer drop anymore (guise, manastone, etc) were added to random mobs around the world.

I never found logic in a trivial loot code.

That feel when people with mass amounts of resources have characters parked every 5 levels or so to farm different items.

Imo, implementing TLC on p99 would do little to affect how level 60s make cash and would also have some pretty wide-ranging effects that the people in favor of TLC would not be expecting.

I mean... even frenzied ghouls are green XP for a 60 aren't they? Chief in droga too? Bodyguards and EoE guy would be affected. Seafuries and hill giants wouldn't be. Stuff like lev cloaks would become a cartel controlled by level 40-something rangers selling loot rights to 60s instead of a cartel controlled by level 60 rangers selling loot rights to 60s. Stuff like pyzjn and hadden and goblin earring guy and whatnot would be a bit more available to lower-levels, but they'd also just get focused on by alts of 60s as they are leveling since they know they can't do them at 60. /shrug

It takes me all of one (very long) day to get a ranger to 40. Even less with bard PL and characters with pb aoe spells. It'd be a small hindrance to those with means and ruinous to 60 warriors still farming lowbie shit :P

I think it's a good idea. Rewarding bottom feeding is bad design.

Doesn't work for EQ...too much stuff that is useful, even needed, drops off green mobs.

I like the rare drop items event though. If this was in classic we should do it here! It would be a very cool fun night.

Would be cool but only if it is extremely rare and would have no chance of dropping if people were mass AoEing mobs.

Everyone and their mom would make new toons, twink the shit out of them, and then have plvl capable classes help them clear entire zones. Of course, only those already rich would be capable of doing it, so it wouldn't evenly benefit anyone. No matter how carefully it was planned, the neckbeards in TMO would find a way around it and just get handed more loot.
