Is there any resource around where people can list lfg or groups looking for players? Sorry if this is the wrong subforum.

You just have to make friends and hope they call you back

There isn't a specific sub-forum for it or anything like that, but people post LFG/duo/etc threads all the time (usually either here or in the starting zone forum). Try putting "looking for group" in the forum search and see what pops up.

The best thing to do is whenever you group try to make a connection with someone so that you have someone that you can level with at a later time. When I was leveling up I had 4-5 different sets of people that I would level with because we got to know each other. That is what makes this game so great, the server is the community, and you are a major facet of it.

I've been trying that and making a few friends along the way but I'm on euro timeand my playtimes are abit erratic so it's not always easy. Im playing a bard but I really hate kiting, even though the xp is 10x faster. My name is Stakha in game, currently 39, feel free to lookme up in game if anyone ever wants a bard in their group!

I hear you, this game (at least for me) is always best played in a social environment.

And then you get to 50 and have to hope the 1-2 zones in the game you can xp in aren't overcrowded all day.

Being new to the server and not having a long friends list, here is what I have been doing at low levels.
1) "/who all x y", where x y is a 2-3 range of levels within your own. This is how I identify where the most people my level are hanging out and exping. I go to this zone, and try to find a group. If I can't find one, there are generally 1-2 people actively lfg in zone. At that point, form your own group.
2) To fill in the gaps, or to replace people that are leaving your group, I do a series of /who all x depending on the rough levels I am looking for. I scan the list for people in a nearby zone that are also playing a class that I want to bring on, then start sending tells asking if they are lfg. I've had a decent success rate doing this. Sometimes they say no, but that's ok, move on to the next tell.
There are so many people on this server playing at all level ranges, I've found it very easy thus far to find or put together groups. The key is really being proactive and not just sitting around hoping someone finds you. Sustaining the group is just as important. People have to log? That's ok, start running /who alls and find a replacement. If you only rely on the zone you are exping in for replacements, you may find your groups falling apart rather quickly depending on the zone, and time of day you are playing.

Not really, they are trying to slowly phase out non-classic things it's not like they have a light switch that they can turn all non-classic things off on a whim.

This is why non-gamers think we are nuts, of course. Because, the thing is, if you play regularly, people start to remember you, put you on their /friend list, and give you a /tell when they are forming something up.
Whereas if you only log on once a week, well, a week is a lifetime in eq years.
But also keep in mind, you can hit dry spells finding groups. Also, it helps to be at the zone you want to group in. And you just gotta wait. If you are sitting in your home city with your lfg tag up, some players may not want to deal with the hassle of waiting for you to travel to the group. Just a couple ideas on how to maximize your eq group action ;)
