Was originally going to wait until kunark to roll an iksar shaman but the wait is driving me crazy (impatient :p) and i was wondering if I should wait, nobody really knows when kunark is coming out and there is a nice exp bonus in effect i could get them up pretty high in a short time, so I was wondering if I should roll one now and if the answer is yes, should i roll troll? hate the way they look but the regen is sick. Ogre would also be good due to the frontal stun immune and barbs are able to go more places and look better with less penalty...
tldr; what do? wait till kunark to make an iksar shaman or make one now and what race?
Don't make a Troll just for the regen if you hate the way they look. Play what you think looks the coolest.

well i think iksar would be the best just hate having to wait till kunark, wish i knew an eta on the release.

I rolled an Ogre Shaman the first day this server went "live" even tho i knew i actually wanted an Iksar shaman..
When Kunark is coming out.. i will actually re-roll my shaman as an Iksar haha :-} Atleast now i have the gear and experience i need to lvl up faster :D
Roll a shaman now.. enjoy the slow killing.. Kunark wont be here for months. =P
Make an Ogre! =D

Good point, just don't go out of the way for any gear you can't transfer, of course.

Last night my 40's group was looking for a replacement in SolB and all we found looking for group were 7... yes, I said 7 shaman!

"Ogre would also be good due to the frontal stun immune"-- Ogre resistance here, i thought. I know i got stunned in my Ogre Illusion. On live yes i think it is immune.

Ogres are resistant to frontal stuns via mob BASHing. Not spell effects, if that's where the stun came from...Other than that, i'm not sure Illusion:Ogre provides the same benefit, although it might...

It definitely should not. And as far as I know it doesn't on this server and never has.

With the exception of a troll I played once, my shaman (plural) have all been barbarians and I wouldn't have it any other way.
The only problem I've ever run into with that is if you ever try to play a barb warrior after playing a barb shaman forever.....You feel like you are tanking with your shaman. I've never had that problem with different classes of other races.

Illusion Ogre provided frontal immunity to melee stun on live.
Do you have anything to support this theory? I played an enchanter on live and have never heard of such a thing.
This was basically an EQ urban legend.
By the way, Ogres also get immunity to spell interrupts from the front via melee, along with the stun immunity from the front from bashing. Very handy.

The only problem I've ever run into with that is if you ever try to play a barb warrior after playing a barb shaman forever.....You feel like you are tanking with your shaman. I've never had that problem with different classes of other races.
I can sympathize playing a barb b/c of the ease of finding less weighty gear early on, or for faction reasons (far more places you can safely hunt or quest), but troll/iksar regen is too enticing to me, especially with how fast innate regen increases from 50-60.
I've also been considering going shaman (it's the fad nowadays apparently), and Troll will probably be it.

I'm doing the opposite. I played a Barb Warrior on Combine, and now I think my Shaman is a tank.

Stun immunity doesn't work as well on EQEmu as live. However also consider that ogres get the best shaman stats in the game (I'd definitely take one over an iksar).

It's situational. JBB extends fights and shortens downtime, as well as allows the shammy to chain-nuke on raids (if they don't melee and don't need to heal after the initial debuff). It's a nifty thing, but it shouldn't be seeing constant use.
Pick the race you want to look at for the following 60 levels. Personally went barb because I can't stand the look of troll and ogre, despite both having racials in their favor.

Valid point about the stats, but what do you mean about stun immunity not working as well? I don't think I've had any issues with it soloing on my shammy.
