So I've never actually gone to Kerra Isle more than just exploration, is there any reason to? Besides the badass music and badass kerrans? IDK but erudin and all it's areas have always fascinated me, I guess cause noone really goes there much and the areas are really pretty cool honestly. The newbie area for erudite necros is another cool place.

It was pretty great for early money making, it's got a nigh unlimited supply of lightstones.

He's probably not talking about erud's crossing, pyro, but the actual Kerra Isle zone off of Toxx.

I never spent more than a tiny bit of time at the entrance to that zone until I leveled my chanter on red. Did like 15-25 over there and it is a pretty great zone. Definitely totally empty even on blue, but yeah, it's very cool. The theme there is fun (like... cats on the pacific rim I guess?) and unique to classic EQ. Good for low teens up to 30 max probably. Pretty nice xp, pretty challenging (tons of pathers ALL over the place including shaman and ranger NPCs). Not much loot to speak of even if you're a brand new player, unfortunately, but there's a few pieces here or there.

It has some issues that make it harder than it should be though, between mobs sometimes bugging into the ground and mobs healing through walls and stuff. A shame it doesn't get any attention though; it's definitely a zone worth leveling a character through just to experience it and pass the word along.

Oh right, derp.

There are a bunch of neat lowbie quests in that zone, if you haven't ruined your faction:

and of course my personal favorite

which gives you a 1hb that's a fishing pole

Ah yeah, I forgot it's a place you can do some quests instead of just slaughtering all those poor cats.

++ zone imo. Way cooler than the other dungeons in that level range... just way the hell out in BFE.

I've heard you can't actually use that fishing pole to fish though? It's only a weapon?

Yeah I don't think you can fish with it, but it's the only fishing pole weapon in the game, so, you know, style points.

Kerra Ridge is one of those zones that no one's ever been to, but is actually pretty cool thematically. It also has some above average loot as far as newbie "dungeons" go.

The problem is that it just doesn't really fit into Odus progression. Hunting in Toxxulia won't bring you to a high enough level to even attempt the entrance really. And who in their right mind would go level in Qeynos Hills / Blackburrow and then return to Kerra Ridge? It's also one of the most difficult dungeons at that level range, and it's not like you can put together a really solid group since your options are extremely limited (low population and everyone is an Erudite).

Might be fun if you run with a premade group but otherwise it just doesn't work, unfortunately.

I find it amazing that there's a zone in a 15 year old game that I've never been to.
I had no idea this place existed. When I read Kerra Isle I though of Erud's Crossing. Not a completely separate zone.

I'll be heading there as soon as I get home from work.

I encourage other people to be like username17 here. Think about the zones and dungeons and cities in the game that you're unfamiliar with and make a point to go check them out. Lots of cool stuff out there that I promise even long-time players have never seen!

My adentures on Kerra Island.

I was already KoS there (being iksar) so I couldn't do the quests. But I killed a few mobs. Got a Cat o Nine tails.
The fish on Kerra Island can kick. I did not know that.
Apparently the erudite necromancers on Kerra Island worship Bertox too. You'd think they'd worship Cazic Thule.

Yeah. EVERY Kerran I killed had Milk and Fresh Fish. Such stereotypes.

The only reason to go there is to turn in a Paw of Opolla or camp the npc for Cleric Sol Ro legs, besides that it's an interesting small zone with some named and unique drops..none of which are too amazing.

I brought a group there a few months ago. The ZEM isn't bad, and you essentially have the entire zone to your group. There are two things that make Kerra Isle a bit of a challenge though:

1. Every single mob has sow (the shammies path and buff everyone)
2. In most areas the mobs are packed tight

1+2 means if you don't have a fast-reacting luller/chanter + snares you are in for some hurt. It is not an autoattack -> alt-tab friendly zone. But it's a fun challenge nonetheless.

Ah. So bards can't come running in and disrupt the whole zone. You would think that fact alone would drive more people to this place.

I always wished that SOE put in a Lowerguk level/loot zone on this side of the continent, permafrost, or something... to attract high level people, which in turn would attract lower level people to bottom feed, populating this area.

I mean its just a wish... Myabe I sould have wished that EQ was real and or that I should just be a billionare.

They put the hole there.

That's one of he best zones in the game and could probably support 4-5 full groups.
