I can't wait for a new server to pop up lol.... I need to mainline an awesome game again, I tried to hop in on p99 a few times in the past few years but just couldn't get into it... and I've been following it as a retired p99'r for 3 years now... This isn't a "NEW SERVER PLEASE" thread, but.... oh god, it will be so epic when it finally happens lol.


I guess this is an impatience thread haha, p99 pre kunark was fucking GLORIOUS!!!! May have to wait a few more years to relive it, and I will still be lurking until then.... but damn, need m0ar eq classic euphoria!!!


Any recommendations until the promised land comes again? I got pretty balls deep into kerbal space program but that only lasted like 4 days of binge gaming, dota 2 is losing it's luster.... reverted back to counterstrike, I am hurting, HURTING, for a new bingefest worthy game (don't say wildarms or the skyrim mmo haha)

Bled where were you when I had to have a angioplasty and stent put in. I was only 36 at the time and not over weight, 5'11" 185lbs. Damn genetics!!!

Played SoD up until beta for pro99 was released. Looked into it since then its a giant shithole, with the 2 boxing going on still the population barely breaks 100 once you divide it by 50% and that's being generous.

Holy crap man, you must have some pretty gnarly family history eh? lemme guess..... it was in your LAD ( left anterior descending ) coronary artery, and if it was you got a horse shoe up your butt cause that has like a 50% mortality rate for first time MI's!!!

ANYWAYS, yeah.... SoD isn't eq classic, EQ classic > All games. That other unmentionable classic project went belly up, oh well... waited 3 years since I quit p99, what's another 3 years eh!!!! Hopefully the dev's / admins don't lose the interest in droppin another fresh server from the sky's :D


I tried playin a couple times since I quit, even got back on my planes geared level 54 warrior.... but let's face it EQ is all about being better than other people haha, and there just wasn't the drive to get to 60 and roll with people killin the same bosses since forever ago with like 5 level 60 alts. Like the thread title, this subject has been beaten to death, but yeah.... there is something peculiar about p99, it is definitely not "classic" anymore lol. Like some weird bastardization.

Not for sure what the name of the artery was but the nickname is "widow maker." I had a 95% blockage when they found it.

haha yeah, that's the LAD :P It's like the tree trunk artery that splits off into other coronary arteries to feed pretty much all of your left ventricle and most of your heart... Hence the "widowmaker"

if you have a block in your LAD, you are gonna have a bad time mmkay.

haha, been a long while. But ya, it's the reason I'm checking these forums now and then.
For the small remote chance of a server reset or a new server being added.

I was playing this on day 1. Had an amazing time for many many months. Would love to relive it all again. There is just nothing like starting on a fresh classic EQ server.

But I understand dividing the current community that is still playing in 2 groups is a scary thing to do. But yes there are people that retired from the current server and would come back and add to the community on a new classic server.

I even have small hopes on SOE coming to their senses and releasing a classic server that never gets beyond Velious.

Oh well, I just wanted to let the OP know he's not alone.

I totally agree with OP. I haven't played in years but still check forums regularly hoping for some new server to be coming out or at least to see if I can play velious yet. The release of velious will get the sever to 2k population i feel. I would love a fresh start on a new server, but either would get me back into the game.

Feel the same way. P99 doesn't feel the same as it used to. Ive been off and on since I joined almost 4 years ago.

Would be cool if they launch a new blue server. I would be down for sure. Classic EQ is the best.

I don't think that'd be necessary. If they build it people will surely rush over to it. The only people that would stay would be the butthurt pixel hoarders that raid like it's their job (tinfoil hat area??).. and sooner or later they'd get bored of playing merchantquest and come over to the new server.

Probably because it is their job haha. From a regular player's perspective (not 60, not in raiding guild) the server being so established kills a lot of my motivation to play. Get 60, get shuffled into a mid to low tier raiding guild to get table scraps. I know the scene would eventually be the same way on a new server, but the time between when it opens and when it gets to that point would be magical.

Greatest day of my mid 20's was getting that Beta cd in the mail.. And the two days of patching to get it playable. /sigh This server was fun at first. Too bad the community went to shit so fast. I never even made it to Kunark here. But I'd totally be down for starting from scratch.

I think p99 staff should wipe the server, enforce a month long of only velious beta, and then restart at classic and release the expansions on time in line with their actual releases.

I play on and off. Id def play a lot more again if we could have a fresh server. I know they defend it like crazy but the red server is such a low level in population compared to what a new blue would be
