Who watches VoDs anyways

They are removing the ability to permanently save VoDs, so say goodbye to the archive of Sirken's videos on Twitch.

Or the archive of speedrunning videos, any highlights with music in them, etc.

Youtube uses Audible Magic as well, the difference is that they remove videos entirely upon detection. Also, due to the large volume of content, youtube videos don't get processed using Audible Magic as fast as Twitch.

Ah, I just read the article.

The only audio we use on the show is in the intro/outro videos, and I don't know if those are copyrighted works or not. I guess we'll find out. I'm just glad we don't have to worry about making money through the show. Lot's of people have been screwed out of an income because of this.

PS. fuck all this obsession with copyright on peoples broadcasts. I'm sure everyone has seen/felt the repercussions of this, and it's absolutely ridiculous in some cases. Lot's of people who aren't even using copyrighted works are getting flagged for using copyrighted works, and it's bullshit. That's the extent of my rant on that right now, but if you go over to google you can find a ton more information on why this is insane.

Technically, it was just a rumor.

The biggest problem with vods or contentid on youtube is that a lot of the time, it flags people for use of cc/mit/open/free licensed works if it has also been used in a video from a known flagger (sony, viacom, etc.)

I'm just hoping they change the stream delay timer. It used to be ~5-8 seconds around 2 years ago. They changed it to ~30 to give better video. Hopefully Google will decrease the timer back to 5-8 seconds

you can use http://livestreamer.readthedocs.org/en/latest/ to bypass the removal of sound.

this change also had to do with the new "next gen" consoles, and making sure they could stream

Better finish the ESA vid backlog before videos made to promote charities get deleted for copyright infringement.

copyright is really dumb and this sucks a lot

If I have some music at a low volume playing that isn't direct from the internet, does that count? It should, but I wonder if the "technology" would pick it up.

Doubtful. You can pitch-shift songs by like 0.05%, and to the human ear it sounds exactly the same, but the program analyzing the waveform will have no clue what it is. This is how we bypassed the listener on turntable.fm. (RIP turntable.fm)

I'll bet the air it has to pass through and what your microphone does to the waveform will probably be enough to bypass it. Maybe folks can just start adding little whitenoise filters to things in frequency ranges that humans can't hear, but it would still fuck up the listener's ability to ID the song?

it depends if the owners of the music have it registered with AudioMagic. if u want to test, try uploading to youtube, its the same content ID system.

hitbox allows you, the broadcaster, to choose whether or not you have a delay
HTML5 based so bye bye to the bloat of Adobe Flash
less lag in general, website isn't a bloated piece of shit and instead of videos pausing entirely on lag you usually get a little artifact but it's watchable
