Tells?

I can't send a direct tell or do /ooc at level 4. Is this to prevent spam and griefing or is there something special I have to do to have permission? I just got into the game yesterday after a few months off from Eqmac. I am Camdog, from Destiny. Hello all!

I have never heard of any restrictions. Are you sure they are not going to a chat box hidden behind something?

I actually get a message to the effect: "You do not have permission to /ooc" and "You do not have permission to send a tell." Not exactly those words but something similar.

Hmm, there was some spamming in EC tunnel recently. Maybe it is something they implemented on new accounts to combat that.

Project1999 is for the Project1999 server (red/blue) hence, wrong server.

GC is not project 1999, thus it literally is the wrong server.

Project 1999 is its own server, and moderated by different people.

I actually created a character (Camneely) on this server. Currently around Qeynos - I think I like it better than Grand Creation - more old school. I forgot how tough it was starting out!

Call me a masochist, but I am a ranger. Always have been in different EQ incarnations. I enjoy being sort of a "swiss army knife" for a group.

Also - is there a general chat channel for the server? Is there a LFG channel, and if I'd like to buy a ride somewhere, where could I ask?

I don't think there is a server-wide or LFG chat channel.

"/lfg" to flag yourself as LFG.

"/ all lfg 4 10" to search for others from level 4-10 who are LFG.

"/ all dial" to find someone in the guild Dial-a-Port (I think that's right). You could also ask in your zone. I've personally been getting places via my own feet recently, trying to save money.

well...I'm no master of EQ eventho I try to throw a smile at some of the people that come thru here to try to meet some people to try to group up with also. Some have said that networking will take you far here (much as in other things) but you really need time to do that well. If you are more casual like me the few hours you finally get to log in are usually spent saying HI to some people; maybe gaining a little xp or continuing on a quest with the limited time.

There's <dial a port? which is a guild that will gladly port you for donation. maybe a /who druid all
/who wizard all
may help u find if one or available. Usually when they anon they are hiding/ grouping/ busy.

Rangers are a niche dps class. Bards are the "swiss army knives" of classic EQ. And far more powerful and in-demand. Just a idea for you to consider.
