I am in the process of writing a rather long RP story for the forums. This entails a great deal of running around Norrath, finding mobs, taking screenshots, etc. Happily, most of the story's flavor can come from purely organic events that arise during one's adventures through this land.

However, to stay true to the format of the story I am going to write, I need something a little more inorganic.

WHEN: Monday @ 9 PM EST

WHAT TO DO: Roll a level 1 dwarf of any type. Turn in your priest of discord book. Then, you will whisper our correspondent (TBD) and receive an invite to the guild <Suitor of Grumphilda>. We will all gather in Kaladim for the RP event.

Then, compete!! Anyone else who is a Suitor of Grumphilda is your enemy, trying to snatch from you the most beautiful dwarven lassie in all Time.

WHAT YOU GET: You get to come to an exclusively RP event that will play an integral part in the coming story.

WHAT NEXT??: I'm not telling!

If you are going to make it, please post in this thread. I'd like to get a headcount. The rules may change etc as the idea solidifies in my head.

For those who don't know, these are a few examples of what you will be contributing to. Filbus and I like to make roleplay story threads here on the boards. People tell us they're good. We have fun making them. RP is something we don't think there's enough of on P99 and we hope to make it a little more commonplace.

I happen to know for a fact that the story we're working on with this <Grumphilda's Suitors> guild has the potential to be the funniest shit we've done so far. Filbus has told me some of what he has planned from his end and it's good, real good.

And then I killed filbus. Kekephee will try to avenge him someday.

You know trying isn't really my style. I will talk about avenging him from the comfort of my couch.

Also, do you really think it's wise to kill THE #1 TANK in BDA??

Remember that this is a roleplay event! If the idea hasn't occurred to you to really go all-out with a character for your dwarf, this is a great time to have some fun doing so. Maybe you're Sniggler Diggler, heir to the Irontrunk fortune, some unimaginable blend of dwarven boarishness and millionaire class, who demands only the finest of pig anuses and beer grace his table, or maybe you're Chumply Wumbledon, the chief executive supervisor of the Kaladim Sewers Maintenance League, family words "Poop's Me Life, And Likely Will Be Me Death; I Respects It And Thank Brell Fer Poop What's Been Puttin' Food On Me Family's Table For Six Generations." Come up with something. Practice typing in a Scottish accent. Say HAR! a lot. Have fun with it.

And if you want to actually level your character a little bit, that's great. Surnames are really good to have in a roleplay story. So is visible equipment, rather than a million carbon copy dwarves who all look alike.

Hammerbeard, Grumphilda's step-father, is now alive and standing in Kaladim. The petition has been sent to form <Suitor of Grumphilda>

Does anyone know if I have to stay online Hammerbeard in order for the GMs to tag me with guild?

Thanks to everyone who came out. Was a whole lot of fun and Filbus got some really good shit for his story. The screenshots will be up as soon as Filbus gets them organized/resized and writes the poem to go with them!

I was wondering today, what voice do y'all use in your head when you're reading Filbus' epic stories? I always go to somewhere between a Jeff Bridges and a Kris Kristofferson. I've tried to imagine a different voice, but I just keep going back to the gravelly slight southern drawl. Not sure why, but it just fits for me.

Probably better than my voice. But I just can't move away from it.

That works well. Other acceptable answers are:

1) Sam Eliott in The Big Lebowski with a lisp
2) Bryan Cranston on Breaking Bad whenever Heisenberg would get really mad or dangerous and his voice would get super low, but all of his Rs and Ls are pronounced as Ws ("Fiwbus swew the dwagon and cawwied his wady wove away")
3) Robin Williams with a really bad sore throat
