What Class Will Your 1st Iksar Be And Why?

Years ago in classic I played an Iksar Necro as my main. Loved it to no end. But since then, in various games I've gone to the melee side of things. Yet here the nostalgia (not to mention love of Necro pets) has me wondering & missing that Necro. I've thought maybe an Sk, as it satisfies both my melee appetite and my Necro-love. But I know I'd miss out on the best Necro pets. Add in to that the fact that my melee fun has been the dual-wield type.. I think monk. But then.. I miss the Necro part lol.

So, I'm not asking what I should play. I'm interested in what you think you will play, if you were to make 1 as your 'main' Iksar. And why, what about that class makes it so fun, for you?

Myself, I'd play all 3 of my choices, but then who has that kind of time with a full time job, school, and a wife. ;)

I had three main charcters that I played. A woodelf ranger, a eruidite necro and a iksar Sk. I loved playing all these charcters but my favorite was my Iksar SK. He just owned almost everything i cam in contact with.

Monk for sure. I love pulling, love splitting mobs, love FD, love everything about Monks and Iksar. I already have a caster char. If I had a melee char, I would probably go Iksar Shaman or Necro.

Probably a monk. It's hard to justify making a human when iksars are statistically so superior, and monk gear is virtually non-existent until Kunark anyway. Wouldn't dream of playing one in vanilla.

Warrior or shadowknight. They're the best warrior race for Kunark (screw frontal stun immunity, give me my AC bonus!), still viable in Velious (NToV) and the added regen makes them have a lot less down time during the treadmill that is EverQuest. Shadowknight is also tempting, because they don't have to do hardly any factioning for Greenmist (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=7029). Giving four bone chips at a time to Trooper Mozo until your left mouse button breaks isn't my idea of a good time.

Tough choice. Probably warrior though.

edit: And before the "Greenmist isn't part of Kunark" fucktards come in, Greenmist on live was originally Iksar only, and completed months before Luclin's release. Original Greenmist (http://web.archive.org/web/20011212103918/pietas0.tripod.com/greenmist.html), likely it was in game all along. All of the khurki quests definitely were.

I know, for example, they can't wear Darkforge armor, but others seem to say that they get other stuff to compensate. It was a legit question on my end, I'm certainly no expert.

I never played Iksar thoroughly, so i'll probably be playing every single class (as I typically end up doing =P

I was a human monk in live and was always jealous of their regen/AC bonus...They gave us humans the booby prize of 0.00001% faster fists...

Indeed iksars can't wear plate - they get a string of other non-plate armor though to compensate. They have naturally boosted AC as well so all in all their AC is usually higher then any other even without plate armor.

I like Iksar Shaman.

To me, that is what a shaman is about, primitive tribal like lifestyle , and the health regen helps to offset canni.
Heals, slows, buffs, debuffs, sheilds, spears, its all good as a shaman.

ISK - SHM/MNK. FOB fun, Kurns fun. These zone's are fun newbie areas and were the killing zones on Zek.

ISK SHMs I'm not a fan of Large Models, plus the extra regen is nice. Custom ISK SHM gear in Hate is a Plus.

ISK MNKs have twice the standing and sitting regen as HUM MNK and more AC than HUM. Which is way worth bad faction. The only plus on HUM MNK is 1 delay better on strikes.

Shaman. Unquestioningly. I've actually been dragging my feet, not leveling, just scraping up shaman gear in preparation for Kunark.

I wonder if I'll still have the interest to play when Kunark finally releases.

Iksar Monk is tons of fun but leveling at the higher levels is so much easier with a necro.
