Other than MMOs what major hobbies do you have or wish you still did?

I read, a lot. Sword of Truth series, Wheel of Time, R.A. Salvatore(light reading), etc.

I also run and bike. Those are the only other two main hobbies other than the massive amount of reading I do.

I wish there were adult football leagues in my area. I used to play football in high school and wish I could now. I played Halfback, OLB, and special teams. (kick return, being the fastest on the team)

I want to see if you can relate.

What do you think of zombies that can run?

What program did you use to process that picture? What kind of camera/ccd do you have? And what type of scopes are they? Both on a motorized mount?

not a huge fan, they are OK I suppose in very limited quantities . if 1 out of every 10 zombie movies has runners I can handle that, variety is the spice of life after all.

the current state of things is pretty sad with the vast majority of movies coming out having runners - most of which don't even count as true zombies, and don't even get me started on 28 days / weeks later and its "non zombies".

but yea, I vastly prefer Shamblers to runners

also - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z85jKnmGsOg makes me incredibly excited , it looks so bad ass , it has 2 of my favorite things , shamblers, and practical FX.

That looks awesome.

My personal opinion on runners:

They should only be able to run when "fresh", and not for very long.

Runners shatter the nature of what zombies are. The fear supposedly instilled from zombies, isn't that a single zombie will catch you, over power you or any of that. It's that the sheer volume of them, will eventually get you. Lure you into a false sense of security with their slow movements, and before you know it, you're surrounded etc.

I like horror films... and any sports. I'll watch practically anything that can be bet on!

I use Nebulosity from Stark labs with a Canon XTi for one shot color and a Meade DSI Pro II for mono (generally photometry because it has linear response, which is important in measuring the brightnesses of stars - in photometry you measure the relative brightnesses of stars in a frame to determine the brightness of a variable star/asteroid to generate a light curve that tells you lots about the star's intrinsic characteristics etc.) The 8" is the workhorse for photography, its a Celestron 8" on an ASGT (goto) mount. There's an 80mm refracter mounted on top of the scope with a Meade DSI Pro for autoguiding using PHD Guiding, also from Stark. The mount isn't all that precise so I have some software from Cyanogen on the observatory computer called MaxPoint that corrects positioning info from a model of the errors that the mount has so GOTO is pretty precise, which is critical when doing photometry since one starfield looks much like another until you learn it :)

Here's a pic of my shed with a rolloff roof, with the scope visible. This was before I mounted the 80mm. You can see the hotbox I run the computer in (with a heater, it gets to -40C here in the winter, and I've learned computers don't work well when it's that cold! Then again neither do I - the computer is on the house wireless so I run the scope via VNC in the winter and when the skeeters are really bad in the summer)

The 12" is a Meade Lightbridge that I use for visual stuff at dark sites - really nice scope. Here's a pic of me rolling it around on a custom cart at a Star Party.

http://lh3.ggpht.com/_naYHBIGkZOA/SQepCZCiESI/AAAAAAAAE5I/brLt0qyHt_U/s912/IMG_0022.JPG

The Meade is getting remounted on a less heavy mount with new bearings so I can mount a Meade Autostar setup with DS motors to make the scope GOTO and track.

I'm a numistmatist with a focus on three-cent nickels, MS silver Washington quarters, world silver and MS Lincoln wheat cents.

I play with and collect guitars. I'm best at blues but love neoclassical shredding; I've just never made that 100% click. I can squeak out a little classical too.

I follow professional boxing (one of the three fans left) and MLB.

This comic series is amazing. I stopped reading/collecting comics years ago but I still follow Walking Dead. Can't wait for the show!

I train in Taekwondo and a little Muai Thai kickboxing. I also weight train (although EQ has been starting to dip into my gym time somewhat, need to step back I think lol).

I'm also a pretty big movie buff, play bass guitar (sort of retired, nobody to jam with these days), like messing around with computers and am a die hard Philadelphia Eagles fan.

Last night I made a 30 mile bike trip, which was to a nearby city, and back. (15 there, and 15 back) Edited: I don't need some inbred mouthbreather to misconstrue what I meant and try to turn this into some fagtastic flame war.

Oh, I also watch MMA. (someone mentioned boxing above and it reminded me)

It looks awesome, but im wondering how much they might...gloss over.
His son killing another kid in cold murder.
His wife and newborn baby getting torn in half by a shotgun blast.
Ricks own torture...
I wonder if any of it will make it in the series? I hope so.

what I was personally hoping for, since we have already seen all that stuff happen in the comics, was for them to touch on all the important bits and go off into its own territory at some point, I think there is a lot of potential there.

I love tinkering with software and technology. I enjoy testing anything that is new and rediscovering things that are old. I like finding the limits of what is possible with software and hardware, and finding ways to make things work in unison. The term "exploiting" comes to mind.

Growing up my major hobby was digital art: photoshopping, 3D modeling, 3D animating, etc. That has turned into a career though so it's sort of fallen by the wayside as a hobby.

Jesus is a shambling zombie, the Rolling Stones are the running type.

Most running zombies seem to occur due to some type of infection, drug, chemical or scientific discovery gone wrong (28 days / weeks later, I Am Legend, Resident Evil, etc.)

On the other hand, true zombie movies like Night of the Living Dead, White Zombie, etc. follow more traditional zombification methods (mysticism, voodoo, or just plain no explanation at all) and feature the shambling type...

There's a studio (http://www.gorehoundinc.com/) that's been trying to get a Nazi zombie movie produced for about a decade now that looks like it would be a really good watch, if they could get the funding... there are a couple of teaser videos available on the site. (the teasers are B movie status.. but damn.. heh)

Alternative links if you don't have QT - Trailer 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTpmQwVbFWk) | Trailer 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cQ-kM3TBKc&feature=related)

Hobby-wise I do alot of reading.. Robert Jordan, Steven King, Terry Goodkind, Clive Barker... Play a lot of retro RPGs, Read a ton of Manga and watch a couple Anime series, design maps for W:ET, and Q2, design Gabber tracks, draw, write fantasy / sci-fi. Party, get stupid n' mandle hangovers.

most runners are not really zombies, take 28 days / weeks later, they are LIVING humans infected with a rage virus, NOT zombies.

as for zombie nazi movies, I cant see it getting much better then Dead Snow.
