This isn't like UO where the skill cap is 700 right? We can max out all skills (availible to our race/class) if we choose to? Obviously I'm going to skill up smartly, I'm just hesitant about training for the first time.

PS: I NEVER played EQ. I was a UO, Shadowbane guy.

Also, is there an EQ classic guide for first time idiots like me?

Thanks!

no, there is no "skill cap" as in a total of all skills, there is a skill cap in regards to your level. some skills (tradeskills) are not limited by your level, but i would hold off tradeskilling if your moving from UO to EQ, as you can't just go out a mine/chop wood to get the mat's for tradeskilling

Only exception is if you're a priest/pure caster, and that only exception is specialization - there are a few different kinds of casting "skills," (Evocation, Abjuration, Divination, etc) similar to how melees have skill in different kinds of weapons (1hb skill, 1hslashing skill, piercing skill, etc). At 20 as a pure caster and 30 as a priest, you can raise a specialization in one of those casting skills above 51 to a cap of 200. You can only raise the other specialization skills to 50.

Beyond that, take a look at http://www.thesilversandbox.net/p1999/main_l.php and http://moestaverne.com/p1999wiki/index.php/Main_Page for stores of information...
