View Full Version : Tainted Aquagoblin in Lake Rathetear - How Rare?

I've been camping the Tainted Aquagoblin in Lake Rathetear for a few hours so far and as of yet, I haven't seen a single spawn (underwater tower, top of tower, sides). Is it meant to be this rare? The reason I ask is that the other tainted mobs so far have spawned relatively quickly (perhaps I was lucky).

Thanks!

At the top of the tower, you'll see three goblins. The middle one is the place holder for Lord-B, the cleric epic mob. The ones on the sides are your tainted place holders. And yeah, it's one of the more annoying camps :(. I think even "fake" tainted can spawn, if I remember correctly.. that when killed, don't spawn a corrupted.

Hang in there.

Hi Vowels :)

Yep, 5 hours in (at least) and not a single tainted. I've been killing the right ones at least.

This was the worst one for my druid's epic. Corrupted doesn't always spawn and those nukes can be kinda dangerous (at 52 at least). Good luck, it's a rough camp.

Yeah, some tainted are fake. Once the camp is broken its not too bad. Also people are there camping lord b pretty commonly so they sometimes pitch in if you both are nice. If nothing else it gives conversation. I think it took me around 10 hours or so.

For the record, i pulled each tainted to the arena to kill.

^ Damn, 10 hours. I've spent almost 6 now and haven't seen a single one! Just been me there so far, rarely there are some others in the zone leveling. So lonely :(

Took me 8-10 hours. Got it on the fourth tainted.

Hated that camp.

So out of interest, how often did that tainted spawn?

I didn't see one for the first six hours, then saw all four within 5 or 6 spawns.

RNG is a fickle bitch.

Did an hour during my lunch break; tainted spawned but no corrupted. The excitement quickly became despair lol

This and the seahorse are pretty much the only tough parts besides the raids. Hang in there! It'll come eventually.

Thanks Cecily, and everyone else of course :)

I was looking at the other parts I needed (apart from the raids); Corrupted Seahorse (looks like a pain), Corrupted Brownie (looks like a pain as well but at least I can spawn the Corrupted without requiring a group, unlike the Seahorse), Corrupted Gorilla (shouldn't be too hard, though may need a pet to take the summoning) and Ulump Pujluk (just need to get 2 groups to take him down).

I absolutely hated this part of the druid epic.

-Seahorse is soloable (with some good luck)/duoable (with a cleric friend)
-Ulump is one groupable
-Gorilla in EJ was really easy for me, took about an hour

I tried to spawn brownie for like 3 hours the other day with no luck. I remember him being super common on live so maybe I just got unlucky?

As usual, your biggest hangups are going to be Fay pod and VS stone, which are both uber expensive to buy as MQs unless you're in a guild that regularly kills those mobs.

How were you able to solo the seahorse? Charming?

Took me about 2-3 hours.

Just got the tainted and corrupted. Took 9 hours, 5 spawns, with the last 4 being more or less back to back repops.

How were you able to solo the seahorse? Charming?

Yea Seahorse is charm able. Before level 60 it is very rough to solo. Pre-56 I wouldn't even bother attempting it.

Last time I tried soloing it I had back to back charm resists and had to cap out cause it wasn't worth burning a SoulFire on. But I have soloed it without any issues several times before.

Breaking those seahorse caves pre-56 is sort of rough as well. Doable, but rough. You just may have to accept letting some pets suicide and lose the exp on them.

The only 3 corrupted that summon are the 3 in Faydwer. Brownie is duoable with any melee ( I suggest killing the tainted then aggroing corrupted with ensnare, and kiting him around while you burn all his mana nuking you while you heal up. Once he is OOM, get your melee friend to own him. This once is soloable by a 60 Druid as well but requires decent gear. Seafury you can almost always find a necro or chanter to fear him while you DoT him down. Seahorse is mentioned above.

The 2 in Kunark and 3 in Antonica don't summon, and are all easy to root/rot or charm kill.

Ulump kind of blows because he is magic immune, relegating you to a crappy healer. Grab a tank, cleric and a melee DPS or two and it should be doable.

Thanks for the advice. XP isn't an issue now :)

Doing the Gorilla atm, PL'ing a SK while we kill Tottering Gorillas, no luck yet.

Only live tainted will spawn the corrupted. If it's an undead model tainted it won't spawn it.

I forget exactly what spawns the real tainted though, it's been awhile.

Got the Corrupted Gorilla first attempt after 2 hours or so of clearing gorillas. Thanks Fukuu, hope you enjoyed your PL:)

Yep, it was a live one!

Here's another question; Ulump Pujluk, I can't seem to find him in the Swamp of No Hope. Any idea if he is still at the location as stated in the wiki or his respawn time?

You might have gotten super unlucky and another druid killed before you. I wanna say 8 hours on respawn, but the 3-4 times I've killed always been up. Just make sure you check he's up before dragging people out there b/c it's a long hike.

Maybe. I hung around for an hour and no sign of him. Looking at Allakhazam (http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/npc.html?id=5318), and from what other people have told me here (that it's quick), it should be less than 2 hours. I'll check again after work.

And yeah, I checked first, would be extremely annoying for others if I dragged them out to Swamp of No Hope and he wasn't there LOL!

Got him during offpeak with a snap force, 2 tanks a monk and 2 clerics, worked like a charm. Now just the Seahorse (and VS/Fay :()
