Hey, new player on this server, and I love the difficulty! (Made a solo ranger just to make it even harder :D)

I never got to play the old school EQ so forgive me if some of my questions may be common knowledge to some of you.

Also, keep in mind I play on this server only due to no easy mode that all the other have.

1: At what expansion will the server go to? (Also is AA's before or after that?)
2: When it reaches that, will there ever come any new content after that? If no more content after that, won't people get bored of constantly re-doing the same content over and over?
3: Is there a reason except nostalgic reasons in using the very old character models/graphics?
4: Balance, I realize the goal you have and that things get a bit more balanced in the next expansion you're adding, but will there ever be any form of small tweaks done to balance it a little better?

Thanks for answers in advance :)

1. Scars of Velious. AAs did not exist until later expansions.
2. It has not been determined what will follow the Velious expansion.
3. This a classic server. No other justification is required to make a convincing case for classic models.
4. Undetermined.

1. Velious and that's it.
2. They're going to cross that bridge when they get to it.
3. They're forced to old models. Get used to it.
4. What balance are you talking about? They're going to recreate the expansions, content, etc. as closely as possible to the way they were back when they originally came out.

Thank you for such fast reply! :)

About the graphics, i really don't care i was just curious :)

As for the balance i have a friend who played the old school version and he said there were a lot of balance issues with some things and classes being clearly superior and so on, hence my asking :)

Thanks again and see you all ingame :D

Yeah, speaking of balance, you might not want to play a ranger hehe, don't think you know what you're really in for.

I am kinda ''Insane'' in that way, and having a true and proper challenge for once is nice ^^ (Although I think I have died a little over 50 times and just gotten to lvl 4 so I'll be occupied for a while :D)

K play the ranger.

You'll reroll. They all do.

Until they re-did the corpse timers it was pretty funny back in the day to see all the fully-clothed/rage-quit ranger corpses that were in Unrest and SolA. I used to imagine the whole "F This, I'm not running through Dag's Cauldron naked again!" screaming fit/conversation the poor sap would have with his monitor before /q'ing for good.

they don't all quit. speakin as a ranger from the year 99 who rerolled here just the same (even screwed up my base stats the same way) everyone's idea of fun is different :)

Just a tip - you probably want to group on your ranger, not solo. As a ranger you will have a 40% exp penalty, but if you join a group that penalty gets spread across all the people in the group, so if it's just you and 5 other people with no penalty or bonus, that becomes a 7% penalty. Plus, untwinked rangers are not exactly known for their soloing capabilities.

I would group, but everyone's either leveling a new twinked alt or just refuse to have a ranger with them, thus the ''solo'' part...
That also ties together with my questions about any possibilities of ''slight balancing'' improvements above ;)

Seeing if i can get some RL friends to join to make a group with though.

Not true. I've grouped with untwinked rangers.

I can't speak for the untwinked rangers, but as a twinked ranger my choice is usually either slow experience solo or LFG for a couple hours before logging out. Pretty easy choice for me.

Edit: Most interesting part? It's possible to level the entire way in the Karanas.
