I listened to Chest's split server idea. He should know people would join the split rotation server and form a hardcore guild there to avoid competing with TMO/IB. Then you won't have a rotation at all. You would still need a fix that makes all types of players happy.

The staff has said repeatedly they would never enforce a rotation. You guys should literally listen to what the staff tells you guys repeatedly and try to make changes that everyone can agree to. There are some issues that arise in Class C that are handled pretty easily between the 2 guilds. There is very little trouble that occurs outside of FFA for either side. FFA is what needs to be fixed. Every issue that has arisen from FFA has to do with Mages getting an FTE message because they were too close to the spawn. IB Mage got an FTE message before, TMO mage seems to have gotten one this past weekend, Taken pulled one of those 2 FTE messages and killed it. Everyone has made mistakes is what I am getting at. No one has clean hands.

IF FFA had the same foot races as Class C with a few rules in place and a lower variance it would fix 90% of the problems and make it more enjoyable. Make FFA what it was intended to be. A place to compete and learn how the Class C guilds do things. It makes it that much easier for the guilds to move up while also making it accessible to smaller guilds with less resources. It would hopefully get rid of some of the hard feelings when other guilds realize the mistakes made with mage petition is basically what everyone is arguing about right now.

Ask who is winning the most PD's lately. We don't have a strong AM presence right now (Recruiting more Euros!) and it cost us this weekend when Druushk,Hoshkar, and Naggy all spawned in the morning. We took a shot at Hoshkar with basically 27 people (3 of our 32 were pullers 1 wiz and 1 rogue died to a racnar before the engage). 5 of those 27 weren't pre-buffed correctly and died early in the fight. We got him to 27% which was probably entertaining for anyone who hates us to watch. I say Kudos to IB. They have the only true around the clock raid force right now. We are doing fine with what we have.

Reducing the timer on spawns an setting up race rules would be great for FFA.
Yes it would be more "poopsocky" but ALL guilds can attend when they don't have to "sit 16 hours" as Chest kept mentioning. With FTE races, you could be the next guild hero if you score FTE over IB - TMO and get the kill.

I think most people in Class R prefer the challenge of beating the programmed raid mob. EQ isn't really a good place to do this since WoW can provide much more difficult instanced content that is a challenge in terms of hard-coded game content. Hardly any mobs in EQ are challenging if you throw more people at them, but Class R wants to play here because of the nostalgia and other game mechanics.

Class C on the other hand enjoys the challenge of beating out other players in the process of beating the hard-coded content. EQ is good at providing this sort of challenge in the sense that there are world spawns and no instances. However, it's also pretty terrible at providing this challenge on the blue server because there really isn't much way to compete with each other aside from Olympic time differences of pressing the attack key on a raid target or having players log on.

Basically, because EQ is such an old game, raiding will always suck for everyone on this server because the mechanics of a MMO just weren't that well thought out in 1999-2001. However, we'll all continue to shit on each other back and forth for that endorphin high of scarce pixels.

If I had to guess, the winning of Class C mobs and loot is probably a lot more endorphin satisfying since the human brain releases more endorphins when rewards come at different unexpected intervals as opposed to a routine like Class R.

TLDR: EQ is great and terrible and we'll all keep playing regardless of poo sock-flinging.

Which is exactly why the system they put in place will never work as intended. It took less than a few months of Class C before 3 guilds turned into 2 in a merger. If a class R guild stepped up to C, there might be some competition for a couple months, but there will be a ton of clusterfuckery in the process, many, many petitions and bullshit and in the end the new guild will merge with whichever it despises least, TMO or IB. Class C playstyle can't support more than two guilds and those are the only two guilds that can survive that atmosphere, since there's no way another guild could get established when going against 2 guilds who had 3 years head start.

Meh. I'm having more fun now when I am around to raid with low numbers than I was when we had 45 for every engage. It's more of a challenge. I mean we all know 20 or more raiders will be back when velious gets closer to release and we are recruiting strongly right now (39 apps last time I looked). But if it had no account selling ect from the get go, it would be a vastly different scene. The "hardcore" (lol?) guilds of p99 would not have nearly the same impact without being able to accrue legions of alts beyond actually rolling and gearing them.

Hell just a clean box with no gm enforced anything, and no account selling for years on end would be radically different then p99. That's something everybody should like/want.

Folks might have to compete rather then just hedging against actual racing as much as possible.

Might even actually resemble classic.

If you *actually like competition, you should be working with the guy on this.

So from your post it seems you think that Current IB is the same as Past IB? Do you also think current TMO is the same as Past TMO?

Were you around for those server firsts? Did you realize many of them were obtained with GM intervention and exploit methods? Charming Faeries in PoSky, Hobby CH's, etc.
Even if you ignore that you need to look at the competition of that era (if you want to appear to be logical).
IB got alot of server firsts against relatively no competition. Divinity and Transcendence were considered competition back then(lol). IB consistently just absorbed their competition, and really anyone else they could, rather than compete with them. There wasn't variance and getting kills consisted of being the first guild to start a poopsock (first with 15 on spawn rule).

IB had some competition in Kunark with Ascension and its various forms but they never had reliable leadership to compete fully. Until TMO and we all know how that turned out. TMO won, utterly dominated IB in VP, and drove IB to commit mass RMT and run to Wow emu's and EQMac.

Will they get server firsts in Velious? Probably, mostly because most of TMO's hard players and leaders have long lost interest in this server or joined IB(LOL Zeelot, DD). We can't even get beta raid going anymore haha.

Heh most of the play makers in IB right now are TMO born and bred anyways, Keg, Snackies, tortue, etc.

But in summary, if how do you define who owns server firsts. Especially when 99% of the people who got those firsts don't even play anymore.
