Headset recommendations

So I've decided my current headset is a piece of shit so I'm taking advantage of holiday deals to buy a new set of cans.

1. Sound quality is #1 to me
2. I would like to be able to use them with my iPad or iPhone in addition to PC
3. No preference wired vs wireless
4. Price not a factor, but I don't want to pay an extra $100 for a very marginal upgrade
5. Should look decent, I might bring them into work on occasion or use on the go, in airports, etc.
6. It doesn't need to be a "gaming" headset either. A really nice pair of headphones with a mic option would be fine.

My brother has them and highly recommends them. Anyone else have experience with VMODAs good or bad? Or have something better for me to look at?

Yeah avsforum is an awesome resource. Never thought to check them for headphones! I put about 20 hours of research into buying my last receiver and television there, so much info its fucking retarded.

Sennheiser very high on my list. I'm not to keen on getting like turtle beach, logitech or creative, etc...they seem to be more software oriented and don't seem like they'd be that great away from the PC.

As for the 650 HDs, worth the price vs. the 598s for example?

I spent a good 2 months on those forums trying to figure out what to get for my htr. There really is no reason to try to do your own research when there are professionals on there willing to help. I PMed some of the veteran members from the site for almost every piece. (sub, receiver, speakers, projector, screen quality/brand/size for my size room and lighting) No way I was going to research enough to piece together a good system without that site.

Since then I go there for advice/deals on whatever technology I'm buying.

There is however this huge hate for them in the audio community. For some reason I noticed usually white men 35+ have an unusual hate for Dre beats. They won't even try them and just discredit them right away usually or just repeat something that they heard from a website. Put some Bose infront of them and their all over it though,ASAP.

The size of the drivers and quality of the components is shit compared to what engineers and real professionals use. Try a near transparent headphone with a clean, quality signal. Nothing like it. But obvi this thread is full of audiophiles with grados.

I agree that white people might wear Bose for image but Beats are about the same. They both have different images associated with them and both are way overpriced unless you value the image. They have huge margins compared to other headphones in the same price range. If you actually believe Beats are good you can't call yourself an audiophile.

Beats look cool and are a fashion statement. I don't mind people buying them but if you are 100% looking for something with good sound to be used in your home it is a bad purchase and not what this OP should be looking at.
