Howdy folks!
I haven't been real active in the community lately as I have been working on a side project of mine. Bob is trying to move from the EC Tunnel out to the interwebz and make some RMTs.
No...i'm not selling plat or items... My snowboarding brand is going live soon at
www.ballisticboardwear.com (a P99er who shall stay nameless helped me come up with the name)(And another P99er is doing my branding and website work) And no...i'm not paying them with plat. Stop trying to get me banned.
Our product is patent pending now so its safe to talk about so I wanted to reach out and get a little feedback.
Website is up (www.ballisticboardwear.com) and could use some feedback on any viewing issues on different hardware (tablets, phones, etc) or just feedback in general!
Here is our facebook, if you are feeling generous give us a Like/Share and check out the new intro video and website.

I dig the idea, looks sweet. Does the bag have separate cubbys for different items (think six pack folding cardboard tray), or is it one large container like a lunchbox?
I would definitely put this on my board. Gotta get different color bags and brackets tho. Black and silver wont look good on my board and you know you need to look good, nameen?
and also, will you be selling these in EC?
hehehe

This is pretty sweet, I haven't been snowboarding for like 2 years and I live in Colorado (yes it makes me cry), but I would definitely put this on my board.
Question: Are we going to see you on Shark Tank with this product in the future?

Awesome feed back guys! Gotta say i expected some trolling...is this real life or am i dreaming? =p
To answer your questions!

More than you could smoke in a day

Current model is more like a lunch box. We are producing this 100% in the USA and using Radio Welding to make it 100% waterproof (no stitching/sewing) so pockets are difficult and expensive to add. At some point providing this goes well we will release a model with cubbys, or maybe a organizer that sits in the bottom.
Totally hear ya on the color combo, snowboarding is 90% how you look and 10% how you ride =D. We are starting simple but plan to offer a very wide range of colors in the future. And powder coated brackets so we can go any color on those as well.
And asking if i sell in EC sounds like RMT entrapment sir =p

Bag is airtight so in theory...you are good.

Thanks for the feedback man =) Shark tank is a possibility. In the immediate future I am going to be starting a kickstarter campaign to help fund our international patents and if possible starting our clothing line. I want hoodies, t shirts, beanie etc available for sale on our site. When that goes live ill be sure to let you guys know.
Also, if you guys are interested in buying one I will give you a special P99 coupon code as i love this community and am happy to give back. Just shoot me a PM and ill get you one once we are ready for orders.

So how much stuff did you lose snowboarding before you came up with the idea? :) Nice product and if i still went snowboarding i would pick one up. I have a idea i've been throwing around too for a little so i might be in touch to pick your brain.

I've lost a few snowboard tools over the years, and one cell phone got fried from getting wet in one of my pockets. Biggest thing that got me thinking about this was I crashed pretty hard off a table top a few years back and cracked a rib on my snowboard tool. Wasn't fun.
As for your idea, fire away any time man. Learned a lot building up this company so i'm sure I can offer some advice if nothing else =)

When I break my board hucking off a 40ft. cliff or flying through the trees that metal thing looks like it could go right through my leg..... Just a thought. Maybe plastic for the bracket.
Great idea!

I hear ya there sir. I have tested it pretty extensively. The bracket edge is well below the cuff of your snowboarding boot and for most will be below the top of your binding as well. I had to lean VERY hard just to get my boot to touch the bracket. Your leg would have to break before the bracket could injure you.
Injection molding for the bracket is a very real possibility. It would reduce our cost on the bracket by 300%. Issue at this point is the initial investment is $10,000 to have the tooling done and once its done we can't change it. With Aluminum we are just working off CAD file and can adjust as we go and laser cut them out with the new changes. But Injection molding may be the direction we go sometime in the future.
Thanks for the input!

I just know I've hurt myself in unimaginable ways many times as well. Metal scares me.
I get the mold costs but ultimately I think that's where you'll end up based on cost per bracket. I would def. wait until you've done extensive testing at* 10k a mold :P

Never claimed to be the first one to think of the idea =) After i thought of it and started researching it there are 5-6 patent applications out there with a similar idea. If you scroll to the bottom of that particular patent you will see that it is "dead." Even if it were not dead our patent wouldn't infringe on their claims.
Coming up with the idea and getting it patented sadly is the easier part of this whole ordeal. Bringing it to market is a whole new beast.

You doing the patent part yourself?
citizen1080

No, too easy to screw yourself over if you are not very familiar with the language and ins and outs of the process. Non provisional Patent ran me ~ 8 grand.

Bout to be boarding in Big Bear when I get off this deployment! Some points, yes it does look dangerous and just because your leg cant reach it doesn't mean you could slam down off a jump real hard, and your hand gets sliced open by it. Also what would make it something you could see in any board shop would be if it just like tied onto your binding, or something. no mounting bracket. The Path of least resistance! I could totally see that working. I'm with the other dudes on how much weed, and smell proof dat sheeit xD Awesome idea though, and I could see it being useful. I still bring my backpack doe, cause my backpack is a camelback ^_^.. or Beer-back :)

Thanks for the feedback sir =) And welcome home! You have a valid point but one I have thought about. The bracket only sticks out past your binding about 3/4" and really any time you are riding you will have the bag on it. Your worst case scenario where you either come up short or clear the landing and land flat would end with your hand hitting your binding and maybe the bracket too. And the bracket is beveled on top so its not like you're riding with a buzz saw blade between your legs =D
If you land flat and butt check instead, your ass will hit your heels before anything would touch the bracket. Really the only way i see something hitting the bag/bracket is your own foot while you are skating until you get used to having less room to put your foot on your stomp pad.
Regarding your idea of having it tied to the binding. Someone tried and it never got off the ground. Some of the issues is that the bag will flop around like crazy while riding without some sort of support system (bracket), and their version was not detachable unless you reversed your binding straps which was not really a solution. And it wasn't water proof...which kinda makes the whole idea a dud.
I do have an idea on making a bag with no bracket work, and its covered in our patent..but i think what we have is our best foot forward. If it goes well and we are making money we will release lots of other models. hard bags, the cloth only version like you mentioned. We will also be doing a clothing line. What do you think of our logo? Something you would wear on a hoodie? Sniper scope targeting a tribal snowflake.
As for smell proof. The bag is literally air tight, you toss it in the water and it floats, squeeze it really hard and u can force some air out but that's about it. So from a weed standpoint its smell proof till you open it.

Howdy friends =D
Website is up and running. Could use your help in tracking down any weird compatibility issues with different browsers and mobile devices! I have tested it on everything I own but there is always something out there that will cause issues. If you find a flaw please let me know so we can resolve it.
Also, I posted our new websites intro video on our facebook @ https://www.facebook.com/ballisticboardwear and the website is live as well @ www.ballisticboardwear.com
Check it out and let me know what you think. A lot of the photos are prototype place holders..should have final production photos in there soon.
If you are feeling nice this new year give us a Like =)

Lol....guess I should have seen that one coming =p
As for the phone, that is a good point. But i figured at the time it was easier to see if a towel was wet compared to a phone. Plus that is UPS's phone, I don't think they would appreciate me prototype testing with it lol.

It's hard to tell if the towel was actually wet or not, perhaps an item that is a bit more evident whether it's been dampened or not like a sheet of paper or something? I understand why you guys chose a towel, it was a sly little joke at the end. Great video though, enjoyed it.
