I tried this once briefly using the built-in Windows speech recognition and it was a miserable failure.

Has anyone ever successfully implemented speech recognition to type in everquest without a keyboard?

If I decide to not be lazy and load up fraps, I can show successfully playing a bard, mezzing and all. The only issue with tab targeting when mobs are in the wall or trying to look around a corner in third person.

Ya...been doing this with gamepads on warrior/monk/melee type classes for ages, but on a caster..no.

I know we all miss EQOA but really..come on.

Nice! Is there a controller with mpre buttons? I would like to have more than 4 spells available. Besides that I have buttons set and play like you do anyway because I don't have a mouse, just a laptop thingy. Is there any way to auto-loot corpses and to consider your target? I miss laying back on the sofa playing a mobile mmo so this would help satisfy my lazyness :).

Xbox controller has 12 buttons plus the dpad you can assign 4 more keys. With the cursor switch over he showed plus assigning a button to right mouse click you'd be good, it'd be slow to loot your corpse but regular mobs wouldn't be an issue.

the only thing classic i want is the feeling of an actually difficult MMO, one that doesnt just respawn you when you die, or teleport to whichever corner of the world you want to go. i was playing EQ the other day when my f buddy showed up un announced, so i had to run from oasis to tunnel to meet a guildy to do a xfer really quick before i logged. she was sitting watching me while i finished this off, she said what is the point of this game? all you are doing is running. the bonus is nostalgia, and i get that from P99. i then showed her the Norrath map on wiki and explained how it could take hours to run from one continent to another, etc. She was blown away.

I would love to have epic graphics with the EQ model and difficulty, but it just doesn't exist in MMO's today.

That's pretty cool. As far as I can tell a 360 controller has 16 reliable buttons and 20 total. The 4 unreliable would be the 4 in between directions on the dpad. Not bad.

my dropbox is full, maybe i could email the file to you? in any case, to configure the right click for right stick, go to edit the right stick settings, and add another binding to it. do this on the 'click' stick button, and tell it to read un-click as hold right click on mouse. so, to toggle it, i hit my left trigger which is also hold right click mouse, this will free the mouse. to set it back, click the stick down and it when it releases it will hold right click. shoot me a message if you want the file.

I still advocate the n52te coupled with a multi-button mouse. Even a thumb track ball mouse would be preferable to thumbstick mouse. N52te > 360 controller.

sometimes i actually use the 360 controller, it can be fun when im really high. my usual setup is laptop with logitech M570 trackball, best mouse ive ever owned hands down. have gone through 3 of them in the last 3 years, i destroy the left click because i have adhd or something idk. ill never use another though.

PS for the 360 controller setup, my only problem that i cant fix is that the stick will not increase sensitivity any higher and it turns too slow. been trying to ask the keysticks developer but i cant even register on his piece of shit website to ask forum questions. #slacker

This is what I play with. As long as you don't code multiple actions to a single key there is nothing wrong with it. It is in fact fantastic ^^

UPDATE:: Keysticks is pos and only was a 30 day trial. I have switched to xpadder, which you can find free. I have Xpadder 5.7 and i have an even better setup. Xpadder allows you to speed up the stick sensitivity, so its quite similar to Halo or CoD movement. message me for the layout, i can email it to you.

PS i have a necro buddy playing with this now, able to kite, etc.
