fun facts: there are several competing Hitler moments involving the slow movement (2nd) of this symphony.

One story is that after the announcement of Hitler's death on german official radio, they played the symphony. However it abruptly cut out in the second movement. I am not sure if this is apocryphal, as finding any audio recording of the german radio at the time of the announcement seems impossible besides the famous "ist gefahlen" clip of like 6 seconds. Maybe a better researcher than me could answer if this is verifiable.

The second anecdote, which bears a strange similarity imo implying something here is apocryphal, is an anecdote about Hitler entering some concert hall while this symphony was hitting the 2nd movement. I forget the context, it was like at a concert hall in Paris or something and something evil was going down.
