Havent played EQ in 12 years; been messing with this all night; about to give up for another 12 years.
Followed all instructions, what is this devilry?
Go to "launch titanium" and I get the "error" sound and it reads: "the instruction at 0x02...."

This is usually a problem with your resolution.
Open the eqclient.ini file, in your P99 folder and edit the following values:
WindowedMode=TRUE
WindowedWidth=1280
WindowedHeight=700
Width=1280
Height=700
But replace the values for ones more appropriate for your monitor.

just to ensure you can resolve this..set them to 1024 width 768 height and adjust from there...

I found the item on the FAQ that deals with this; but I can not take any action. let me explain. Here is what the FAQ says:
1. Help! When I try to run eq, at some point before entering the game, I get an error that looks something like this:
The instruction at 0x029110ce referenced memory at 0xfffffffc. The memory could not be read
This solution to this is actually very simple. Go to your EQ folder. Find the file eqclient.ini and open it in a text editor (i use notepad, its the simplest to use)
hit ctrl+f, type windowedwidth, you should see something like this:
WindowedWidth=1280
WindowedHeight=768
Width=1280
Height=768
FullscreenBitsPerPixel=32
FullscreenRefreshRate=0
WidthWindowed=1280
HeightWindowed=768
change it to this:
WindowedWidth=800
WindowedHeight=600
Width=800
Height=600
FullscreenBitsPerPixel=32
FullscreenRefreshRate=0
WidthWindowed=800
HeightWindowed=600
I'm using 800 x 600 here, but you may need to fiddle with that a bit. If 800 x 600 isnt working, try using your monitors native resolution instead. Eventually, you will get a combination that works, just keep trying.

My problem is that I can not find any of this at all. When I open my Everquest folder (and I did a clean titanium install, this computer has never played EQ or been connected to the "real" servers) I see lots of files. I put them in alphabetical order to browse. I see one file named "eqclient" but it does not end with ".ini" To be clear, it does not end with anyhthing at all. its just called "eqclient" and the TYPE is "configuration settings"
When I open this eqclient file, here is what I see:
[Defaults]
Sound=TRUE
TextureQuality=1
VertexShaders=TRUE
20PixelShaders=TRUE
14PixelShaders=TRUE
1xPixelShaders=TRUE
MultiPassLighting=FALSE
UseLitBatches=TRUE
That is all that is in there. There is nothing there about windowwidth.
I hope this helps you help me, because I really want to play this. I'm totally stuck here though, what could I be doing wrong?

Any ideas where I can find the eqclient.ini file?

I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled the eq titanium, and my problem still remains. I'm completely stuck. The FAQ says to find the "eqclient.ini" file, that file simply does not exist.
I am using a laptop with windows 7; less than two years old.

You probably don't have Windows set to show file extensions. There's only one file named eqclient. It's an INI file.
When I open this eqclient file, here is what I see:

TextureQuality=1
VertexShaders=TRUE
20PixelShaders=TRUE

If you don't see those lines, then add them.

Alternatively, you can chance your monitor's resolution temporarily to 800x600 to resolve the conflict too.
Once you get logged in, the INI file will update.
Log out, change the monitor resolution to what you want. Then open the INI file and change the resolutions there to exactly match (all of them, windowed and full screen).
Log back in to the game and you should be good to go at that point.
Specifically... the error is that the game and your monitor do not have matching resolutions.

It's got to be there, but assuming it isn't... here's mine (definitely change the settings to the ones mentioned above, the resolution will be too big for a laptop).
Had to zip it to be able to upload to the forums :p

Update: I tried simply adding those lines of text to my eqclient file, and that did not work. For whatever reason mine just does not have what it is supposed to have. Then I tried downloading that zipped file that Swish attached and replacing mine with it; and that worked on the first try. I was able to log on and get to the character selection screen.
Thanks a lot guys, I've been messing with this for two days and now I can get in the game

uninstall EQ and reinstall it OUTSIDE of the program files folder. All your problems will be solved.
