When to kill/loot groupmates?

Yesterday I was in a full group with a shaman whose actions greatly annoyed me. He would canni down to <10%, risking low hp aggro, and he would run around for minutes at a time, clearly missing lots of med ticks. It wasn't entirely clear what he was doing to help us kill the mobs. He would regularly try to melee (while at low hp and claiming OOM), and every so often would talk about how stoned he was. I sorely wanted him to die.

It would have been so easy. One nuke and done. One dot and watch him panic. I don't think anyone else in the group would have minded. He could only have been bound far away or right next to me, so I probably could have gotten another kill in before he LNS'd.

I didn't do it, and it's been eating me up inside. I dont understand "red etiquette" yet. When/how do you kill idiots you're grouped with? Do you break group first? This rage is threatening to make me explode please help.

Would killing him outright, one spell and done, while grouped be frowned upon? Should I care if it is? Based on ooc, the server seems to have a sense of justice or fair play or something and a long memory; I don't want people who AREN'T idiots or assholes to feel threatened when they group with me, and I don't want to be chased by every white knight on the server for breaking some unwritten rule a week into playing on this server.

What about a nice speech in group chat about why I am doing what I am doing, sent 1 second before my nuke lands?

lvling up a 3rd alt

my group killed a legit afk necro over the course of 2 days in COM, he apologized for afking so much made excuses. Leeched one time for 30 min straight, then again for 25 while he was eating, constant smoke breaks was fd in the wall. We killed him twice, and refused to group with him once. This was a PUG.

In mistmoore had an issues at graveyard, rogue afk non stop, pked him. In group and booted.

Same in Solb, afk rogue, ended up getting dumped.

I'd argue inviting someone into a group and killing them without warning falls under a liberal interpretation of the PNP. I imagine most people would disagree with me though.

I was once grouped with a foh member who kept hoarding all the loot at around lv 15, after repeated calls from me and my groupmate to stop hoarding and to split the items we eventually just decided to kill him .(we were getting mino axes that sold for a few pp each) Like a bitch foh he was he cried for like 30 minutes straight, a combination of flaming and threats about how he was "going to get us". I've been very close to ignoring hipponipple on a few occasions but he at leasthas sporadic genuine conversations and a valid personality in at least 15% of his posts... he also doesn't stalk me thread to thread like kergan did (still does, replying while ignored constantly?) and has 50% fewer posts than Kergan, even with 5 times as long on forums.

Hipponipple not a bad guy, just difference of opinions, don't see eye to eye on a lot of stuff.. do agree on few things though. Kinda Doc Holiday/Ringo dynamic from Tombstone (of course I'm Doc and I wreck him, but it's out of honor and some mild respect but and pity that I slay him)

If you annoy someone on Blue, they may /ignore you or report you or badmouth you or simply avoid grouping with you...but on Red, they may attack you. That gives us all a little more accountability to each other. If you misbehave or play poorly or refuse to take input, you'd better be ready to defend yourself.

Secondly, no one has grounds to be mad at you about PvP here. Everyone knows they're signing into the PvP server. All players on this server have signed up for PvP, even those that just came here to avoid the crowding and bottlenecks on Blue server. All players know the risk. Therefore, they have no right to accuse you of wrongdoing if you attack or kill them. Bind camping is unacceptable, twink griefing is shameful, but PvP is totally acceptable.

As for me, I like to play according to my own sense of honor. I would give the player some respectful feedback or input and ask for what I want (in this case, to focus more on healing, or to stay above 30% hp or whatever it is, or to stop going AFK so long); an if no change occurs, kill them. Depending on what class I'm playing, I might need other group members to help.

Kill them all until they call LNS, or learn the hard way. Either way after a few months here you won't feel the same way you do now.

That you somehow think that any form of pvp on an Everquest emulator can "make you some kinda man" says a lot about you. I'm not challenging the guy to an honor duel, I'm murdering him.

Just a small update, though. I had an identical situation happen and I nailed him. He canni'd down to <20% after the group broke up, and I nuke him. Nuke didnt do full damage and the canni he was casting killed him for exp loss. The next night later, he was in another group I was in, but this time he paid attention and played right. So much more satisfying than whining in group chat and threatening to kick him; this is EQ not The View.
