Anyone else play? Been hooked for a couple weeks now, looking for people to play with.

I spend too much time going solo. :(

I'm pretty good now, but I haven't tried sniping yet. Spent a few hours getting gear yesterday and now ive got extra to share if someone wants to go base hopping and chopper hunting.

h1z1 much better game, and its not nearly as dead as dayz... however, h1z1 hacking is rampant, so not worth playing that atm

I'm going to try to be civil, despite growing distaste for things like "H1Z1 is better 1000x!"

I still enjoyed p1999 a few years back and I still enjoy old or niche games which most others don't. I know from experience old(er) games can give me things newer ones don't. I've seen good games be trashed by "mainstream" or "streamlining" changes. Whenever I see lines like "H1Z1 is better 1000x!" I have to vomit a little, until I can actually play it myself.

Now, sometimes it's clear as day that an old(er) game is too outdated. For example, it's hard for me to stomach text-based games, unless it's maybe Dwarf Fortress, but that's still a stretch. Secondly, there're just plain BAD inventory/UI schemes and other terrible things like lack of customizable keys and low resolution - the former being foremost. Then there're things like too little hand holding (the reverse of too much) and too much reliance on savegames. So, you see, sometimes I can join in on the "X is better 1000x!" routine.

However, sometimes the devil is in the details. There're so many treasures to be found in old games. Things which still haven't been repeated or have seen too little light. I've seen it more times than I want to mention. Really, how much do I have to bring it up? No, I'm done doing that. I'm at the point in my gaming life where if I like something then I like it. If it's popularly unliked or treated as cow turds then I really don't care, unless it's stuffed in my field of view, prohibiting me from actually enjoying what I enjoy.

I'm sure H1NZ will offer a lot DayZ doesn't and many of you will be frothing at the mouth, exclaiming profanities towards older games like DayZ, happily clinging to your H1NZ taglines "1000x better!" And while I have to confess you're sometimes right, I also highly doubt you're worth anything to me. There's a grimace on my face as I ponder the reason flesh bags such as yourself are allowed to pounce on the corpses of past majesty so thoughtlessly.

I hope the OP finds some peeps to play with. Dayz looks fun to me. And quite the contrary to I've stated previously, so does H!Z1.

Day Z has a real reputation for hackers, and they've had a shed load of time to get it fixed but the engine(?) apparently is a real obstacle to getting it sorted.

In the meantime I've no plans to pay to play for "early access", it'll be outdated and dead by the time its released if they don't get ahold of those hackers soon.

Worst of all (perhaps) is people who are highlighting serious flaws on the Day Z forums are getting banned... what does that say to you for how much the devs care?

This is a review of zombie MMO's in the past 5 years and I find it a refreshing read:
http://www.dayztv.com/news/2014/07/dayz-survival-competitors-h1z1-rust-7-days-die/

Now the context of the review is DayZ is best because it's DayzTV afterall, but that's not how I read it. What I see going on is there're a number of zombi MMO's to play:
1) The original DayZ mod for Arma 2 (semi-mmo)
2) WarZ (this one is dead?)
3) 7 Days To Die
4) Rust
5) DayZ STandalone
6) H1Z1

What this means is everybody should fine somethign to play. H1Z1 might be the next WoW for zombie games, but that doesn't mean it's the best for everyone. As many of you might well know, the dominance of WoW in the marketplace doesn't mean we all play it or want to play it. WoW primarily succeeds on its casual "mainstreaming" features and the resulting huge investments of money which allows for top tier content makers and other talent to be bought and kept solidly. Not everybody wants more casual features and also many of us play something because that's what we play and love - for too many reasons to list. And more investment into a game doesn't necessarily mean less buggy. There're many indie (read: small company) games which're stable.

My hope is everybody finds their cup of tea and refrains from telling others what to play.

The commenter at the top of the link above, says it better than me:
sovietshark - I would like to call attention to this… Of course this site is saying that Dayz standalone is king I mean it is dayztv.com. with that being said comparing 7 days to die to Dayz is only comparable because they have zombies, both games have completely different play styles and different objectives. 7 days to die is more of a survival building minecraft and Dayz is a more simulation type game. They have mechanics far from each other that different types of consumer bases support. Having all of these games all I think you could compare is Dayz and h1z1 (obviously I don’t have it) and maybe the warz. However rust offers a different type of gameplay than Dayz along with 7 days to die and warz. None of these games are truly comparable as they have different mechanics focused on different demographics. I love Dayz as much as the next but honestly please quit being fanboys and saying it’s so supreme. I also love 7 days to die and rust and Dayz because they all provide that different experience.
