GMs! Do a Naked Gnome Race event!

I don't remember what server I was on, and I also don't remember if this event was run by a GM or by a guild or community member, BUT we had a Naked Gnome Race. This is how I remember it working:

1. Participants made a level 1 gnome.
2. Gnome had to remain level 1 and have no equipment except what you are given on character creation.
3. No buffs, ports, escorts ect.

You traveled from Akanon to Qeynos and the first person to arrive in Qeynos gets some kind of prize.

I wasn't able to participate in the event due to a family reunion, so I'm not sure if they allowed binding during the trip.

How many people would be interested in participating?

If this has already been done on this server, then ignore me.

Funny since some Vesica Dei members are doing this very event as we speak. The race leaders are already in Qeynos without dieing...

Just dont be bad and you'll be ok. Mob runspeed wont hurt you that much.

The event is based on the fact that a good number of people are going to die. Only works right if you have a good number of people. Remember you don't have to out run the NPCs, just your fellow gnomes :D

Rumor has it Smasheeie chased the gnomes from Akanon to Erudin to "motivate" them. :)

Dead gnome corpse dragging in the arena was fun as I remember it back on RZ. The first team to drag a dead gnome corpse thru the goal scored a point.

Gnome punting I think they called it.

I think the mechanics have changed a bit with /corpse tho, but meh.

this event actually happend on p99 . it was held by europa . race was from akkanon (lvl 1) to freeport gate . i sadyl only attended the gnome bullseye contest :( .

Last night, anyone who hadn't turned in PvP book in gnomecity turned in their PvP books whe they got to Freeport :)

We raced all the way to Toxx Spires. Took just over 2 hours. (Damn boats.)

Pimask was first gnome to spires, and won the sweet prize. I was a sad second behind him. (First visit to Toxx, and duh - map in zone. Would have been a good thing to realize before I stumbled around looking for the spires with /loc!)

Thanks Vesica Dei (especially Acillatem) for running this. It's not an every-night kind of fun, but it sure put some laughs into an otherwise grinding Thursday ;)

i Won this on cazic thule and they gave my gnome a 12 slot 100% weight reduction bag, which i never used

Ya we did this last night as a Vesica Dei guild event - it was a blast!

We broke it down into "legs" with the winners of each leg receiving prizes. We also had honorable mentions like "first to die", "best dressed" (someone went and got their n00b robe lol) and "first to fall off the boat" etc.

Started in Steamfront, I bound everyone in WFP, then I went to Rivervale and bound everyone there, then it was on to Tox spires.

The leader was LITERALLY 10 feet from the spires when he was killed by a kobold and a skellie haha. It came down to the wire but we had a blast - lots of laughs.

The funniest moment was when I said "GO!" and watching a mass of gnomes bum-rush Steamfornt towards LFay lol.

Anywayz - I'm thinking of hosting a "server-wide" Gnome Race :) Gimme some time to get some prizes available (I'm not oozing plat) and I will organize this sometime in the next couple of weeks.

It's good to have a "fun" event every now and then. Grinding levels, farming the same mobs/zones etc gets boring after a while - and it was refreshing to have an alternative to the grind.

But seriously, if you all want to do some events, I'll help however I can. I've been working on getting some to happen, but Kunark and classic timeline events take priority. It's just more time efficient to help with one than to implement one.

It sounds like Acillatem would love to do the shovel work Uthgaard. Get with him in game. Your backing would be great. Prizes would be nice...hint hint. :)

Maybe start in two places at once since there would be a big crowd. You could choose to be a naked Gnome or Naked Erudite. First Gnome to Toxx or first Erudite to AK.
