Ok so I started playing a monk. I spent a few kpp on him, bit but I feel like my knowledge of the class is still very poor. I am just looking for some advice.

Human Monk - Quellious currently level 20
1. is AGI my highest priority with gear?
2. At level 20 now, should I be using dual or 2hb? I currently own x2 Knuckle Dusters and Wu's Quivering Staff
3. How important is it to stay at 15 weight or less? I am at 16 right now and the ONLY thing I an carrying is a Traveler's Backpack with 20 food/water and Bandages.
4. Simple list of beginning gear possibly?

Platinum Fire Wedding Rings - 250pp/ea - 55 HP and 5 AC each

After those, I'd personally say save up for a Haste item. Other items, while stats are good, won't bring you nearly the power haste will. (Of course a Fungi would but that's 7-8x more expensive than a basic haste item).

Other items after you get HP rings and Haste... Hooded Black Cloak (5 STR/45 HP), Diamondine Earrings (3 STR/12 HP), Totem of Warrior Spirit (3 STR/10 HP Ranged) are decent options.

1. For a grouping monk... HP/STA -> Resists -> STR. For a soloing monk HP/STA -> STR. In a group your primary role will be puller, DPS is secondary to this. When soloing you can pick melee only mobs and not need resists.
2. Yea, go 2hb for most of your time leveling.
3. Weight determines your AC. If you aren't tanking or taking hits, it's not a huge deal to be over. But if you're tanking or pulling often, I'd say it's wise to stay under it. I'm pretty sure the AC degradation scales, so once you go over 15 it decreases but not as much as it would at 30. Someone feel free to correct me here.
4. See my above thoughts.

Thanks for the response.

1. I am planning soloing most of the time actually. I have to group enough on my main as an SK. And I am just not into casters.
2. What is the "Best" 2hb that you can get for under 1k?
3. I might just have to give my Box of Nile Space or something to him just so I can keep the weight down. Not willing to give him a Tink bag yet.

A haste item like an FBSS is the cheapest haste I think and spending 8k is not in the budget for a while. Unfortuantly. Maybe after Velious comes out and I can get some money.

What is it you are trying to hold? Just trash loot to sell to vendors? If that's what you're carrying, I'd say buy up some bags and don't care about the weigh penalty. If you need the cash from trash drops as you're leveling to save up, some lose in efficiency killing to allow you to make that money is probably going to be worth it.

If you're soloing expect a decent amount of downtime and I hope you went Iksar. Withhout a Fungi, you will want that extra regen. Plus lots of time bind wounding.

Box of Nil Space is BAD. It weighs 5.0 by itself. Tink Bags are another good purchase after you get a haste item like a FBSS.

What level is your SK?

57 SK

Get a Wu's Quivering Staff, it is 23/28 2HB and weighs too much, but its friggin' great. When you plan on doing another upgrade, look at getting a Peacebringer.

Started using the Wu's last night in SK, was amazing. I started off using x2 Knuckle Dusters, but once the mobs started running away would swap, needed to get my skill in 2hb up. but once I was in the 50's for it swapped to it full time and hitting like a truck it feels like now.

Thanks for all the advice. At some point will need to work toward an FBSS, but that will take time time on my main, killing in Rathe or something.

This statement seems less than helpful to anyone.

57 SK should be able to camp like... soothsayer in Droga or Chief in Droga. Can sell those items and buy an FBSS if you wanted.

Monks aren't a great class to solo on unless you twink them heavily IMO. Good grouping class though.

I know I am only level 20 right now, but I have had little issue killing like 3-5 blue mobs, bandaging to 50% then mend to 75%, kill 2-3 more mobs then bandage to 50% again, rest to when mend pops back up and repeat. Does it get alot harder as you get higher?

Yea it's going to slow down a lot I think. I haven't leveled a monk on this server, and all those who I know that soloed through their 40s did so with a Fungi, many with epics.

It may be possible to get there solo untwinked but it will be slow goings from 30-50 I think.

I started my Monk back up on the blue server, have grouped very little up to 37. Geared with mostly cured silk, 55hp rings, a peacebringer and a couple thousand saved up. I farmed sisters in oot then went to hhk guards (still decent xp at 37) to gain some funds. Today I'm going to spend some time in Dalnir to get some Crescent armor pieces, feel free to come down and join me. Name is Ikskr

Just had to be careful but I got all the pieces on my own. There is a nice spot on the 2nd level close to the drop you can camp for the evokers(slippers), everything is a ph for the kly sarnaks so be patient there. Then on the third floor near the river is another safe spot to camp the rest of the pieces.

Just out of curiosity ... how did you leave Dalnir when on the third floor? The only way out (as a melee) is past the Overseer and he procs a 500dd like crazy. he is very nasty. Did you just race past him and zone out?

Made it passed him four different times to help with a corpse recovery but after I got my armor and was ready to leave, he got me. Died twice, but on my way down for my second cr a friendly bard helped me get my corpse and zone out. Leaving was the toughest part

On the cheap:

5/55 rings x2
Two of: Wu's Trance stick, Cane of Harmony, Cane of the Tranquil, or Fighting Baton (use till level 20 and to skill up each level until you replace with SoS)
Wu's quivering staff (use level 20+ until you can afford better)
Large Soiled Bag
Lionhide backpack or similar .04 weight bag
Any light-weight gloves flagged as magic
Any light-weight shoes flagged as magic
SoW pots.

As you can afford:

SoS x2 [Note: SoS x2 is better DPS than PB or IFS from level 30 to level 60. Better dps than epic fists until level 50. Better DPS than Epic Fist + SoS until low 40s]
Haste Item
Jboots
Tink bag(s)
A PB or IFS for mobs with DS
See invis Item
Fungi Tunic

Work on getting your Robe of the Lost Circle and Robe of the Whistling Fists as you can.

Dalnir solo at 37 is gonna be a bad time.

I had a hard time on the third floor at 50...

jade mace + KD, fbss, 55hp rings. no fungi. meager resists

Yeah, I wouldn't recommend soloing in there until the late 40s. I'd be surprised to see a level 37 consistently solo the casters without getting nuked down.

Safe spot to recover on the second floor in red. Just kill anything you can here to get the evokers to pop. Jump down after you get the slippers

Safe spot to recover and pull to in red. I took all the mobs marked in green

Gear I had was all cured silk other than:
2 forest loops
platinum ruby veil
Peacebringer
2 55hp rings

It was challenging don't get me wrong but I would go back and do it all over again and encourage other monks to go down and give it a shot themselves. It wasn't that bad and I learned a bit as well. Good luck guys

The worst part is the shaman. If one slow lands you're going to have to reset the fight, wait for the slow to wear off, and try again.
