My son wants to start playing EQ and has chosen a Monk my first thought was to go shaman but I was wondering just how good a sk partner may be ? both able to self heal and the extra dps would be nice fear kiting but long term dungeon crawls would be painful I guess without any type of slow. Any advice would be great, I also have to accept that he may quit so I will be left on my own.

thanks in advance

Druids always fun, and can go nicely with a monk.

SK/monk would be tough going at higher levels I would think, monk/sham is also a good team.

Well you just answered your own question. But the real question is this. What do you want to do when you play? As a shaman you're gonna buff, heal, slow, dot, and canni. As an sk you are gonna tank and pull.

monk/shaman better combo later in game. Early on, SK/Monk is solid combo with intimidate (fear) from the monk and a snare from the SK. You can probably stick with the giant forts at around 20-40 then hit up the yeti caves from 40-47 all as a duo. I would just make sure the monk puts his early points into mend/intimidate.

It's a mediocre combo, and if you end up stuck playing alone you'll prefer to have a 50+ shaman than an SK

SK/Monk sounds much more fun than being Monk_Shaman_Combo_0002939817483. Go for it!

have your kid roll a melee, you roll an enchanter, and go places where you can lock the mobs down with mez and slow them. Then make a hotkey /g DON'T TOUCH THAT ONE MY GOD WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU I SWEAR YOU ARE MORE STUPID THAN THE CAT.

And sometimes, just to mess with him, just keep all the mobs mezzed for like 20 minutes, spamming the hotkey.

At least he will be prepared to someday grp with enchanters.
