View Full Version : Game Mechanics: Cure Potions are too powerful.

From what I remember from live, cure potions were not as powerful.
If I look at the wiki, it says that cure posion potions cast Counteract Poison a level 29 spell that reads: Removes toxin from your target's system, curing them of moderate poisons.
A level 29 spell cast of this would not/should not remove level 49 Envenom bolt.
Under no circumstance does this make any sense.
It is also messes with pvp big time. It makes Necros/Shamans/Enchanters very weak currently.
This is like having a rune potion that absorbs 1k damage. Imagine a wizard casting ice comet and right before it lands you just click a potion and it does 0 damage.
That is what it is like to cast ebolt on someone and have it do nothing.

If it cures it in one cast, I'm fairly sure that's a bug. It should take 2 casts.
Counteract is 8 counters and Envenomed Bolt is 10 counters.
Those are wiki values, I'll check classic spdat later to make sure Envenomed is really 10, seems an odd value of counters.

If you know someone is going to spam cure pots, load them down with lower level faster casting ones like envenomed breath of venom of snake
Not to mention you can keep hitting them in the pocket which feels good
Plus? Melees no longer can channel items, pras the new box emperor Haynar
Does PVP spell reduction possibly reduce # of counters applied?

I would love to get a look at the data behind it.
Some issues from my research which is limited :
Bane of nife and Ebolt shouldn't have the same poison counters. I thought bane had like 16.
Last night I had pox cured in one cast. Both pox and plague are 9 disease counters, maybe disease and poison are being cured with the wrong pot type.
Doesn't make sense to me you have a spell that is 4 seconds long being cast for 2 seconds on a potion.
Where is the data specifically on potions and not the spell itself. I thought I remember low level spells like counteract poison not working on higher level dots the same way you can't cast high level spells on lower levels. It would give the caster the message it was too powerful to be removed.
Aside from that, if everything is working like classic and intended. I wonder why this isn't on the same list of items deemed unbalance or broken?
To make them more fair shouldn't they at least cast in 4 seconds like the spell does? Why not scale these to make them not completely negate 400 mana spells?

That's why I'm here reporting a bug because that shouldn't be happening. I'm suggesting possibly a poison pot might be removing diseases or maybe it is happening in one cast.
If everyone second guessed themselves wrong when they saw a bug nothing would be reported. It isn't the first time my dots seemed cured way too fast.

takes 2 cures
There was an emu bug where if you zoned with dots you could cure them for less counters. Maybe thats how he got pox off with 1 click.

Wasn't there a thing that said your spell isn't powerful enough to cure this? Like a spell cap for lower level players getting level 50+ spells cast on them?
