2001 Live Server Population 10:32

I know there was a post on this awhile back (month or so?) but the numbers seemed a little off to me as they showed only 900-1200 players on each server. I found a screen capture of the pops during a pretty high population time (March 31, 2001 10:33PM on a Saturday). I was suprised to find that our server is pretty damn close to the number of players around the Velious time era. With Velious coming, and with everyone who is going to come back, we are going to be pretty much in line with these numbers. Impressive :D

I'm also happy to report that my server Bristlebane was tops in population at that time. As a matter of fact, I was probably one of those on at that time. Anyways, GO P99!

:p I'd be more interested to see how many 60's there were compared to peole 1-59. I'm guessing the majority of the player base wasn't top heavy.

Vazaelle was launched WITH velious, as a new server.

No guises, donals, prenerf anything, no economy...And it's one of the top servers.

Anyone who says a new blue server @ launch @ current timeline wouldnt succeed is a muppet. Morell Thule was same for kunark, kane bayle same for luclin.

I don't know what the point you're arguing for or against is.

I been saying forever that only the TOP guilds server wide were all-60-guilds @ Velious release and been trolled for my comments for just as long.

I remember when my guild was first killing Tormax wed have MAYBE 10 lvl 60s in a 50 man raid force. Crazy how fast Velious will be steamrolled on p99

the number of 60s, even in top guilds, was large but not universal. I don't know for a fact whether or not Triton (for example) was all level 60s.

just the fact that there were new servers and split servers (I moved from povar to xev when they split povar) being opened around this time meant that many players were not 60. i imagine that it was more max level chars on the original servers just by the average time that players had been playing.

playing velious is not going to be anywhere near as fun for the top guilds when they have all max level toons with VP gear.

I think it's even more an issue of having, MULTIPLE, max level toons with full VP gear; allowing for an effective raid-class-combination at any given time.

I mean looking at the <TMO> app, they recommend having more than one "raid ready" toon just to APPLY to the guild.

I assure you that every major competitive guild's primary raid force was level 60 well before velious dropped. However, perhaps 1-3 were even close to as well geared as the top end here. I know on most servers Crowns of Rile and Azure robes were under 10.

I was on Quell and Vis Maior was the top guild iirc, Lotus Cult was pretty competitive to. VM was known for their world first Wizard epic for their GL Occy.

Any way I think the main difference between live and here is alts. On live their mains were geared to the teeth as they are here, but with new expansions coming ever 10months they didn't have time to gear up multiple alts outside of twinking for fun. Unless required to switch class for raid reasons.
