Just returned and no Project 1999 Server up..

Hi All,

Just launched EQ Emulator after having been absent for ages (i.e. probably 1 - 2 years) and Project 1999 is not appearing on the server list, only those as per screenshot:

Any idea when the server will be back up? I was two blues from 22 in North Karana when the yellow text appeared warning me to park somewhere safe.

Agreed, this is an unacceptable slap in the face to p99 users.

As a player playing for free on a server ran by volunteers, i'm entitled to a regular patch schedule and forum/twitter announcements.

I'm extremely disappointed and will consider moving over to candy crush. Take that, irresponsible dev team!

Nah. That's the old launcher that was deprecated a while back. Mine stopped working long ago. :confused:

I'm surprised we got to page 2 before it was mentioned. You can't use that launcher anymore I think, OP.

Type "patchme" into a search and you'll find the thread that'll get you a shortcut to launching it the old skool / current way :)

Thanks Swish. So, I've been reading a few of the "patchme" threads and have attempted to follow the instructions, but to no avail.

I have basically performed the following steps:

1) Copied my Everquest directory to my C: drive
2) Sent a shortcut to my desktop pointing to the new _verquest.exe
3) Amended the target as follows:

4) Attempted to launch application, nothing happened.
5) Try to launch it again, and get this:

Okay, firstly you need to get rid of that patcher. We don't use it here anymore and if you do play on other servers and want to use if for supported ones then maybe consider a clean install and having a 2nd folder for P99.

Took me a while to find but I'll quote an old post of mine:-

1. Find your P99 folder
2. Find "eqgame.exe"
3. Create a shortcut for it (I put mine on the desktop)
4. Go to the shortcut, right click on it and select "Properties"

Something resembling this will appear (your folder path will likely be different to mine)..

Make sure to write patchme after the target. Apply the changes.

You can now use the shortcut to log in!... job done. No launcher required anymore! The only thing to be aware of is patch days, where you need to go to the News/Announcements forum and download the latest patch and unzip it to your EQ folder.

That's all you need to do to launch EQ...also make sure you go to your eqhost.txt and make sure you've got:-

Host=eqemulator.net:5998

You don't want your install pointing at the live servers etc.

It'll be one of those things where once you've cracked it, logging in for the first time will feel great :D
