Here's the trick:

Play the game.
Never ask for gear or cash.
Help others as you can.

And it will all come to you in time. Most of us started the same as you. Naked and broke. Getting past that on your own is part of the challenge. Getting some unsolicited help from a stranger is a bonus. And will happen if you follow the above guidelines.

Welcome to the server.

this trick will serve you well every day you play:
hit 'm' for map mouse-wheel to zoom in and look for the tag of what you need
In this case 'Necromancer GM'

since you're new: look WAY in the back of Ak'Anon

I did not know there were maps until much much later. In fact, I prided myself in knowing toxxulia Forest- every bump and hill- as an Erudite- by the time I was level 4.

Try to imagine, dying, needing to run, not being able to see where the entrance or the guards are but going by feel. Left here, I think I am this far, here, this may be the hill I dont want to climb because it will slow me down, to die just within the light- lol.

runggup, I made it to thw water thinking I could swim underqwater and avoid him- all this, blind- going by sound only.

That was cool!

For some help regarding maps a very helpful site is EQ Atlas.

Since you are a necromancer the only thing you need to worry about early on is getting money for spells. You can kill stuff really easy with your pet.

S'truth.

The first spell I bought was Cavorting Bones at lvl 2, with 2 bonechips I summoned a pet, and was lvl 4 in like 30 mins. That pet owns. just /pet attack, melee next to it and cast a lifetap or two to raise magic skills.
At lvl 4 I bought a bunch of spells, but after you buy Leering Corpse, and summon a good one (3rd try was yellow to me) he destroyed everything. I literally had ONE pet in the 2-ish hours from lvl 4 to 7. At lvl 7 head to the EC/Nek area ( I like nek better- less accident aggro and more bears). at 8, get spells, do EC orcs, or hit up OOT for aqua goblins. that'll take you to 12.
