OK so...

I zone, it doesn't bomb to login or desktop or anything, just window freezes forever unless I click the 'X' at top right. I have left it for 20 minutes and it definitely needs me to click the 'X' before anything happens.

Once I do click the 'X' then of course it goes to desktop. I reload client. Log in. First time I log in it goes to server select and then says "AN UNKNOWN ERROR HAS OCCURRED" when I try to log into P99 server. Again, I must click the 'X' or nothing happens.

When I reload client for 2nd time it just wont connect via login server, just says "TIMEOUT OCCURRED". This will last 5-10 minutes even though my 30mb line connects to everything else.

After 10 minute wait it finally allows me to log back in. 3 or 4 zones later it happens all over again. This only started after patch v35, however has got noticeably worse since last hotfix in March.

Once im actually in a zone I never LD - only upon zoning. So its a bit of zoning, a bit of login server, hugely gay.

Pretty sure it's all in the login server and how it handles higher latency connections. Many people have issue with the login server, but it's so inconsistent and vague that nothing is being done about it. Or, the devs can't replicate the issue for whatever reason so can't do anything about it. Seems to happen most when the population is over 1k. It's going to be a glaring issue when Velious launches and the population is 2-3k around the clock and a lot more people can't connect or DC when they zone.

I think the client talks to the login server everytime you zone, so that's why both problems seem to be from the same source.

This server is unplayable for me most hours of the day because of it.

Well my shit internet is clocking 56mb download tonight and can box 6 live accounts, stream movies, and torrent pron stacked with no problems.

My bets on a 9 year old login server but wondering if anyone had a solution.

I was going to suggest running a tracert to project1999.com

Then I tried one myself and found 2 timeouts...but I don't have any issues :p

Got a laptop or another device that can log in on P99? Maybe the next step is to log in either on the same PC somewhere else or a different device on your connection.

Surely I'd get latency droppage in-game though? I'm running at 100.00% once im actually zoned in... will try a cable though.
