Yet another 'LFG' post...

I recently returned to EQ & while I am loving it here, I'm finding myself soloing mostly.

Are there any others (NightOwls or Euro's) that would like to get some kind of regular group together? Once per week or something like that?

I'm an 8th Level Troll Shammy who misses group chat...

London based here. I have a 24 shammy, 26 warrior and a couple bunch of mid-teens hybrids (ranger, pally, bard). I have not played the latter ones lately so you will catch up soon and It would be cool to group up!

Nearly 13 years after I last /camped for the final time, I find myself fanning the flames for a light that has never gone out. Of all the MMOs I played in the intervening years, none matched what I experienced during my EverQuest years.

After another project failed to materialise, I stumbled upon Project 1999 from a chance YouTube video - a clarion call of nostalgia, and the need for a new laptop after my MacBook died. New Windows laptop duly ordered (last in stock), I have the opportunity to achieve what I failed to achieve when I originally played all those many years ago.

I only achieved 24th level on my Chanter because an alt Druid, then an alt Warrior interfered with my playing time; as well as spending an inordinate amount of time on the server board.

This time round I can be more achievement orientated, whilst still pausing to take in the beauty of the Karanas during the rain, and play on a somewhat casual basis over a long period of time. This time round, I'll roll a DE Chanter (as opposed to HE Chanter - whoop big difference ;)) worshipping Innoruok. Once a Chanter, always a Chanter.

Short-Term Goals:
- Cracked Staff
- Patchwork Leather
- Stein of Moggok (level 8)
- Bind in pot room

Medium-Term Goals:
- Unrest
- Najena
- Mistmoore
- Lower / Upper Guk

Long-Term Goals:
- Nagafen raid
- Vox raid
- Planar raids inc. Sky
- Chanter epic

Overriding Goal:
To have fun playing a loved game with people who feel the same way.

Hopefully see you all in-game from Friday (pending laptop delivery, config, and a Titanium config), Neriak Commons log, or EC Tunnel. Seriously, my heart did a flip when I read that there were nearly 200 players in EC Tunnel.

Play-time will be weekend mornings, and maybe Sat evenings (BST) if nothing else planned. All-nighters reserved for special occasions well in advance - to pacify my fiancée. The trials and tribulations of EQ in one's early 40s.

Cheers!

Hmm .. may decide to go ERU as my race and start in Paineel. Decisions .. decisions.

Good lord! That was a kerfuffle and a half to obtain EverQuest Titanium. All done and Riotgirl the DE Enchanter is (re) created - albeit, the original creation all those years ago was a HE Enchanter.

Need to fiddle with the EQClient.ini file because I am experiencing the windowed issue i.e. mouse clicking edges of the screen in full-screen mode dumps me into windowed mode - and I am unable to re-size the window.

Set the game to windowed mode but adjust the resolution to be your screen resolution in the eqclient.ini file - that's how I've always played at least. Full screen can be annoying for a lot of reasons :p

Dark elf enchanter = best enchanter!

Thanks Swish. That seems to have worked.

Loaded Velious UI - just need to work out how to make the background of the UI windows translucent so that the windows are as intrusive as possible.

Re-read all of the commands again after Mr Alzheimer is rushing towards me with open arms, and then I will be set to customise the UI some more to my liking, set-up my hot-key and macro configuration, scribe spells into my spell-book, and start my nascent steps back into EQ in the best manner possible: killing lowbie mobs in Nektulos Forest, with a /Who list in double figures.

It is good to be back ...

I'm a Shaman, apologies for the afk, trying to finish an extension at home & mitigate wife aggro.

Swish - That cracked me up. I used to love that program (& yeah, that's where the name came from).

I'll be on next week as & when. Currently in & around EC still.

Likewise!

Once I obtain enough gold to buy Juli's Animation and a small sewing kit (have quite a bit to vendor, when I next log-on later in the week), I'll head on over to Innothule swamp to try my luck there. Nektulos has been quite good, however am starting to tired of the gloom and want a different experience.

I did manage to visit EC Tunnel and the screen-shot below (link) made me extremely happy - just like old times.

Experienced my first death - if you don't count being knocked unconscious and spending the next two, comical minutes regaining and losing consciousness killing a Spiderling in Nektulos - last night in Southern Ro.

Reapplied invis after missing the Innothule zone and ending back at the Oasis / SRo zone line, without performing a 360 camera pan beforehand. Sneaky Puma caught me unawares from behind, and couldn't outrun it after being stunned several times. Quick /loc and a familiar reacquaintance with "LOADING. PLEASE WAIT".

Then discovered bind in Nektulos is near Newbie Log, which of course means aggroing Decaying Skeleton and Black Wolf. Fortunately, found an Iron Golem to smash my welcome party to pulp, before making my way back to Neriak Entrance to re-mem, and head to retrieve my corpse and continue onward to Innothule.

Forgotten how evocative the music and landscape of the Ro desert truly is - not to mention how goddamn big those Dune Tarantulas and Sand Giants are. The sky settings are not truly classic, but graphical enhancements are a welcome addition that increase the immersion and bring out the beauty of the Ro desert (SRo in particular, is majestic).

The experience just keeps getting better and better with super friendly players. Will be taking a break for a few days to pacify my fiancée's increasing aggro.

Run diagonally!

Imagine a right angled triangle...
_
\|

Note the diagonal edge is longer than the edges adjacent to the right angle? Essentially the distance covered by running sideways and forwards at the same is greater than the distance you could have achieved in the same time by running only forwards (or only sideways).

Praise Pythagoras and be safe from pumas!

Edit: I've also always imagined adding a jump when starting running seems to give a head start too.

My sojourn in Innothule has been mixed: made a friend (brand new player - Troll Warrior) and gained 2 levels; then lost a level, regained, then lost it again, after dying a couple of times, and then getting jumped by a DBS (Dry Bones Skeleton) in SRo.

The final indignity was forgetting to stock up on food and water for my CR, and not being able to regen mana to cast Invis =/

Once I find and loot my corpse in SRo, I'll head back to Neriak to complete a quest, then Gate back to Innothule. The Trolls in Grobb seem to accept me, and I am nursing some major payback to Frogloks, Fungus Trackers & Watchers, the Kobold Hunter, and the (spit!) Nobles - particularly Bunk Odon.

My setbacks only strengthen my resolve to strive towards improvement. My Chanter's fortunes will dramatically improve once I obtain my 12th level spells. Once I obtain my 8th level spells, I also need to buy a pair of Silver Rose Engagement Rings, then think about the Stein of Moggok quest.

I'm experiencing 2nd thoughts on my Chanter as a main. I might shelve her for a while and roll a Human Innoruuk worshipping SK.

I will be severely gimped on equipment due to my policy of non-twinkling and only buying player crafted equipment. However, I actively seek the challenge of learning a different class, and in a manner which interests and stimulates me - from a RP perspective (Human Innoruuk worshipper).

Since I'm in no rush to 60, I am - and always was - much more interested in the journey. Given that Velious is on the horizon, there should be opportunities opening in terms of where to group / level and classes as everyone jumps on their main and hauls ass to Velious.

Given my leisurely playing schedule (and fiancée aggro), I require a class that can group and solo where required. Preference will always be balanced towards the former - although finding groups of like-minded individuals who are understanding of my foibles (non-twink / non-buying dropped loot), may prove to be equally challenging.

Slaughtering Halflings is a goal worth no small amount of short / medium term pain. Hail Innoruuk!

^^Crazy talk re: switch to SK. This kind of thing is why I only achieved 24th level on Live re: alt-itis. Am sticking with my original Chanter plans.

We are now resuming our regular schedule.
