I have played a raid level warrior before, but after just now coming back since quitting Live in 04 I can't remember how I had my setup for pulling. Especially for stacking mobs for the chanter to lock down. I'm still pretty low, but I like to keep my good habits. Here is what I can't remember, any advice would be appreciated.

So we make a pull and I let all the mobs get a little ways from the group, then I will stand there only taunting unti the chanter announces a mez. Then I back up towards the group to let the chanter mez his next target. That's where I have a problem. I remember F8 is to target the closest mob, but I cannot remember the button to cycle through the mobs. After the mezzes are locked down I pick the remaining target, build a little agro and announce the assist via a hotkey I made.

In a 3 mob pull situation it goes like this. I pull and call out INC three times to let the group know I am coming with 3 mobs. Then I stop a little short and hopefully the chanter has a "Mezzing target" messsage (if not I watch for the graphic). Then I back up and target the next mob and let the chanter lock it down. Then I back up a hair more and call out my "Assist me on target" message. After that I taunt twice and break the mezzed mobs one by one in the order the chanter wants.

Is that right? Am I missing any obvious steps? It's pretty tough to find old school warrior advice from original EQ.

Options - Keys -> I personally use numpad ENTER for target scroll

You are over-thinking it. Your other group members will already have broken the mez before you can even taunt it once. Make a hotkey that says "I'm the main assist. Duh. Wait for me."

Personally, I like groups with a separate puller, somebody who can actually get singles or FD if they fuck up. I /assist them when they are running back to camp. They pull the mob to me, I get aggro and they run for the next pull. That's a more efficient way to group rather than have the Warrior running around looking for mobs and then returning with 4-5 of them. Constant pulls. You'll be too busy tanking to pull. I find it's more common for me, at my level at least, to be grouped with a puller class vs an enchanter.

As an enchanter I prefer a mediocre puller. Great pullers will make me bored..

Well I usually send in a sacrificial ranger if I can. Alive/dead really doesn't matter as long as the mobs make it back. "Who's going to take the DT's in PoF?" :::all eyes go to rangers:::

Well, if you want a mediocre puller, I'm the guy!

You're making this all too complicated and wasting a lot of time. Pull 3, arrive in camp and start tanking your target, enchanter aoe stuns, you're melee breaks the MA target which the rest of the group should already be dpsing, enchanter then proceeds to mez the remaining 2 stunned mobs. Ditto on the seperate puller because it's a waste of time when there's nothing in camp to die. If you have to break and med after each pull then the group needs to re-evaluate the content you're doing.

Sounds like alot of wasted mana. I am also 100% sure I should be stacking mobs. If not in the original content, for sure in Kunark and Velious. It makes it so much easier on the chanter to space out the mobs a little. Like I said, I'm rusty, but I haven't forgotten everything. Good pulling should be complicated. That's what makes it good and not normal.

On top of that if your chanter stuns a mob before any hate is built and that stun fails, he is now on top of the hate list and it will take him that much longer to get the rest locked down.

@ OP

You're clearly a good, vet warrior and I also am used to seeing your style of pulling (moreso in tough dungeons Seb, Velks etc). Regardless of others opinions on your style, I think if anything your conscientiousness of others classes roles and forethought put into how many to pull clearly show you know what you're doing

I'd rather peel than pull, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do and I like to do things as well as I can.

I remember back in sebilis exp/aa groups and farm groups there was a main puller, chanter, cleric, tank and 2 other dps.

The puller would basically bring 3-4 into camp, the chanter would AE mez, and then single target mez the ones the tank wasnt on, once there was one mob left the puller would run off to get 3-4 more. These were the awesome groups to be in, the exp and money was amazing.

Single pulling and the omg check my leet single pulls type pulling is more for raids/very tough camps.....

Thats not saying theres not a difference between a good puller and a great puller in groups.
