Hello all. Just wanted to say how much I am enjoying P99 since downloading it a few days ago.
Have a druid up to level 7 and an enchanter up to 6. Now I just need to decide which to main.
Community has been really nice in game and I can't believe how close the experience is to the original. I played on Brell from June 99 through Velious.
I forgot how punishingly difficult this game can be, especially by today's standards. On the other hand, it is nice to be able to go out and do what I want rather than follow a bunch of exclamation marks. Also, although I haven't grouped too much yet, it is nice that people actually talk while playing. Looking forward to doing a lot more grouping.
Have been playing a ton, but wanted to write a quick note before heading off to work today.
Cheers.

Yeah the exclamation marks thingy gets pretty old pretty quick lol. :p
Welcome Aboard. You have picked 2 great classes on here. It would be hard for me to decide between each also. I have 24 toons on here, so I sort of know the feeling.

Pick the one you think is going to be easiest to level for now, and use that character to twink the other. Two mains in the end.
I'm currently playing a necro with the intent of gearing a warrior. As an unintended side effect, I actually like the necro :)

Welcome to 1999, *snicker* Slowpoke!
From an RP standpoint, names like Slowpoke become hilarious.
'Legend has foretold of a legendary hero that will save our realm from doom!' 'What is his name, sire?' 'His name is.... Slowpoke!' :D
I'm level 5 right now and could use a group, leveling in EC is quite slow since all the LFG is buried under seas of auctioning. If you're ever in Nektulos, EC, Freeport, et cetera, shoot Zajurai a tell.

Welcome back. I returned to norrath a week ago myself and have been hunting in EC. I set it up with auctions in one chat window and all other stuff in the other makes lfg easier.

A good way to make all that /auc spam to go away is to make a second chat window and filter all the /auc to it instead of your main chat. Not classic, I know, but EC can get NUTS with all the /auc spam during peak times. Nice to get it out of main chat but still have the ability to shop around if you want.

Slowpoke is my traditional user name. Started using it my first game of multiplayer Quake 2, so it even predates EQ:) My character names are always very much lore appropriate!

i filter it to my combat/spam window and then have a tiny third window on top of my primary one for all my spell info. fizzles resists wear off etc.

the blue server end game scene is an abomination if you had some sense you would roll red as soon as you can, whether you're casual or hardcore

These red posts are getting old. 1-49 you get annihilated by twinks. 50-60 you get 5v2'd by people with years worth of raid gear. Oh and half the server consists of a single guild.
The only reason to play on red is for PvE reasons sadly.

Yes, it is punishing by today's standards but makes it more rewarding in some ways. Many of us here are masochists as well. You are on the money about people actually talking here, not something that happens in the current iteration of WoW or games with "speed runs". I tried WoW again, which I haven't played since launch, and the lack of communication in the dungeon finder pugs was so disturbing that I quit after my free month. The good ole days are still here on these servers thankfully. :)
