View Full Version : Iksar Warrior Gear Questions

I'm loving my Ikky Warrior at the moment. If soloing, the regen is good to the point that I can kill blues almost non-stop (I realize that won't be the case when mobs start hitting harder, but for now, it's awesome) and I'm okay as a tank in group (although, I can't hold agro for crap with my newbie weapon). Having said that, I have a few questions that I'm hoping someone can steer me in the right direction for...
1) Level 6-8 is kind of an odd level for FoB. Pit groups are definitely doable, and I was in one that was doing pretty well for the most part last night. Is there any better place to solo blues/whites?
2) What are gearing options? A nice level 15 Ikky Warrior walked up to me out of nowhere and handed me a few decent pieces which were a big help, I also have a bunch of curscale armor from the quests. I'd like to eventually purchase banded, but that's going to take awhile to afford. Do I have other options at the moment?
3) Weapons... What are some weapons I can get as a newbie warrior that can be helpful (I have no money other than what I make, so I think I have 7 plat right now)
4) Velious armor... Am I going to need to grind major faction to get the dwarf armor quests going?
Even if answers come in the form of links I'd be extremely appreciative! Thank you!!!

This is classic EverQuest, there are no newbie armor quests that reward gear better than the L30 class quests. And as an Iksar Warrior in Kunark, you don't get to wear plate, it itches your scales or something. As Cucumber's said in another thread, "get used to Ranger gear". You'll still have enough AC/HP to tank anything in Kunark, and Velious gear is Iksar wearable, so your AC and regen will push you to the #2 or #1 warrior race, depending on who you ask.
As a young blood:
Banded (http://wiki.project1999.com/Banded_Armor) to Trooper Scale (http://wiki.project1999.com/Trooper_Scale_Armor)
5/55 rings (http://wiki.project1999.com/Platinum_Fire_Wedding_Ring)
DPS weapons until the late 30's/early 40's when yak (http://wiki.project1999.com/Ykesha) starts proccing
I'm sure Sakuragi, Cucumbers, Joroz, Hakata or one of the other iksar warriors on this server could offer more detailed advice (pardon misspellings).

Yup, aware of all of that. I was talking more quests like the curscale armor quests where you can get gear that is level appropriate while you are acquiring the funds to get the better stuff (banded, for example).

This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you VERY much for this! :)

Type "Cucumbers" into the wiki, his magelo will give you a good idea of iksar warrior gear... and perhaps the gulf between iksars and plate tanks at the moment :p

What about low level, obtainable weapons? Remember, I'm untwinked. If no one knows, that's cool too, I can do a bunch of leg work. Truthfully, I'm trying to cut my research time down :)

There is an iksar berserker club in Kurns around lvl 14. Not sure if its the best, but its close by and relatively low level to obtain.

I am by no means a lowbie Iksar expert, but I think you should try all of the zones attached to Cabilis newb areas.
I have heard that the swamp has high level mobs that roam in the newb area, so if you do that be careful of them.
LOIO should be a great area. The ZEM (exp mod) is lower than normal zones, but it has a wealth of mobs and other players. Might be able to get some buffs from people /shrug

Maybe this wep sucks too bad to even quest, but my guess is that you will be killing the mobs that you need drops from for it anyways.

Hmm, it just makes me think back to real classic. Use what you have and learn how to make it work. Then when you get haste and proc weapons you will have aggro that much more easily.
I used a Spear until level 15, then I got a green jade broadsword and used that and a spear until 32 or so, then I got a jarsath's trident and used that with this broadsword until 54. Didn't have haste or proc weapons until 57 so it's doable.

I also walked to and from school alone in the snow barefoot 15 miles uphill both ways.
:)
Juust kidding about that of course, but don't sweat gear man. Play the game. Warriors require immersion. The ONLY thing I would recommend spending any money on at all is magic boots, maybe a decent 2hb for less than 300pp and maybe the 55 hp rings if you can get a good deal on those too.
You can beg a green jade broad sword easy if this is ur first char. Go for hp stats and dont worry about other things until ur 50s.
Carry a box of weapons - Level up every weapon skill you can including hand to hand, archery and throwing(I overlooked throwing and it is still level 0 because of that)

Polished stone anklet in field of bone is a fairly easy to acquire set of magic boots.

I believe the Sarnak Battlehammer is a warrior only 2hb 30dmg 40dly that runs <100p. That's a nice 2her option. Jarsath Trident is 11dmg 22dly 1h pierce that sells for around 100p also.

I'm not so much sweating it as I am trying to find ways to get relatively level appropriate gear to progress a touch faster. Plus, I like to be able to solo if I can't find a group, and I know that will eventually not be able to happen. But for the time being, I'd like to be able to solo a bit. I was soloing last night and I dinged 7, donged 6, dinged 7, donged 6, dinged 7 and camped as fast as I possibly could. So I was more curious if I was "missing" anything equipment wise.

Good information, thank you!

Awesome! I'll have to look out for that. I have 8 plat to my name right now (I know, I'm a certified G) so I'll need to save.
I was honestly thinking my first purchase would be a full set of banded, but I'm wondering if I should go weapons > 5/55 rings > Banded.
