Vote with your wallet and stay away. I hate using google for searches but Bing is so terrible.

Sums it up really, all the speed you could want but there's no point having it.

Regardless of who your ISP is, if you do not use a Proxy service for "things" then you are a fool and I have no sympathy if/when you get caught.

Use DuckDuckGo (https://duckduckgo.com/). It protects user privacy and doesn't rely on personal data so you get better results and not ads.

Google Fiber pushes automatic piracy fines on your ISP bill

From what I read in the article, they are merely forwarding the notices they are getting. Show me where it says they are putting fines on the bill?

Honestly, every ISP receive those notice, they simply not auto forward it to their customers like google isp fiber shit do... you could receive the same from using ANY EXISTING ISP, if they decide to send you one.

Most of the time they ask you to delete the files or they could pursue you or w/e if you don't. How can they know if you deleted it or not. If you ask me, it's only to scare the people its working.

I fail to see how this reflects negatively on Gooble Fiber at all.

If anything, it tells me what they caught me downloading, gives me a chance to remove it, and how to avoid being caught in the future, without divulging any of my information to the complainant. You'd rather have an ISP like comcast never forward you any of the notices until they've racked up like a dozen against you and get a subpeona? Then they have your name and address and you're fucked.

You people need to learn how to read...

Have been using torrents for 14+ years now. Received 1 letter about 12 years ago from Comcast listing the exact file i had stolen and told me to delete it. Other then that have never had any issues. I've also been using peerblock for like 2 years now. my monthly internet usage is between 400gb-600gb. And i dont really stream much.

Two of my rl pals got cease and desist letters from their ISPs and both mass torrent literally everything from porn to games movies and books.

The letters they both got basically said stop torrenting or we are handing all the information we have over to authorities.

It's far too late in the game to start boycotting google now.. but in any case as was already mentioned its silly to not be using anonymity.. pay a little extra for a VPN service.. til google finds a way to circumvent that, which wont surprise me.

I think peerblock must be pretty good cuz the tech guy at my ISP couldnt see my computer. Had a problem accessing a site i think, forgot that thing was on so called my ISP tech support and the guy was like "What do you mean, youre on the internet, i cant see your computer" and then it clicked that the prog was still on.

Im in no way shape or form intermediately computer literate so take that for what its worth

Lol the reason you probably couldnt access the site was because of peerblock. I like it and it blocks alot. I have to allow access for alot of my games i play but its nice knowing that its doing its job.

peerblock worked for me until about 2010, then I started getting C&D's again anyway.

I've found that simply having good taste protects me pretty well from C&Ds. The only things I ever got bonked for were bullshit, like current Jewlywood movies and Taylor Swift albums.

I usually just read the comments on PB. Always see comments about torrents being tracked so i just dont download those and look at a different one.
