Whatever horrendous sickness comes in the coming months, as comes with all serious red server guild wars I hope the community does not lose sight of the fact we now have a 350+ pop prime time server. This used to be a shit box with a corrupt scummer watching guilds exploit dragons, then banning the other side for stealing the same strat almost immediately after weeks of abuse. There were infinite range AoE's, xp loss on death, unresistable highsun/denon's/mage pet root, completely fucked up hitbox/ac/resists, enchanter mezzes you couldn't even cast on players due to using mob level checks(or wtfever was going on)... all of those things are gone and resists/ac are at least functional now.
We have a fairly active economy, a source dev (not some sideshow guy they snub), a GM that actually tries his best to remain impartial and finally an enemy team that is willing to put differences aside to try to tackle the once-underdog now-behemoth, Empire.
It is good to put your selfish desires aside for a minute and be thankful for a box with a respectable population and a dev that is willing to butt heads with us, get involved with our insane community and talk about wearing skin masks and date raping each other.
There is a Taoist story of an old farmer who had worked his crops for many years. One day his horse ran away. Upon hearing the news, his neighbors came to visit. "Such bad luck," they said sympathetically. "May be," the farmer replied.
The next morning the horse returned, bringing with it three other wild horses. "How wonderful," the neighbors exclaimed. "May be," replied the old man.
The following day, his son tried to ride one of the untamed horses, was thrown, and broke his leg. The neighbors again came to offer their sympathy on his misfortune. "May be," answered the farmer.
The day after, military officials came to the village to draft young men into the army. Seeing that the son's leg was broken, they passed him by. The neighbors congratulated the farmer on how well things had turned out. "May be," said the farmer.
It is a horrible thing that Fresh was disbanded.... "May be"
There will be spying, trains, rule lawyering, ridiculous item advantages and possibly a woken sleeper by this time next year.
Just remember, there's basically no good pvp MMOs coming out ... maybe ever again. Be thankful for what you have red pals.
