So apparently a very prolific MMO player was banned today. He was training a guy from the biggest guild on the server who was boxing a bunch of mages. Trained him twice and within 10 mins a GM popped up and told him his character was being deleted and he was suspended for 4 days.

Moral of the story, if you're playing on Ragefire, don't step on Twisted Legacy's toes, even though the server was proclaimed to be the "wild wild west" by the GM's till just recently, you'll get insta banned for any infraction against them.

Funny how a post that allowed an anything goes playing field was removed after a guild who could have been using said playing field to advance now has secured the server firsts and now wants to halt others advancement. I'm running out of tin foil hats!

There was also a PnP policy erected. Don't be a shitler and you won't get banned. Zzzz

I watched his stream on and off the last couple days and really enjoyed it. He was grouping legitimately with no boxers or anything, and it was fun to see from a monk's perspective doing pulls in Mistmoore, Upper Guk, Lower Guk, etc.

The incident that got him banned was pretty foolish on his part. There was a twisted legacy "group" of 6 boxed mages in solb. Kungen asked for a camp check, and the guy was a douche, so Kungen decided to train him. I'm guessing the guy complained to his guild, they all put in petitions, and the GM had no choice but to boot him.

I'm mainly just bummed because I was really enjoying watching him progress through all of the old dungeons. He had his monk up to level 37 before the banned him. His twitch channel had 1000-1500ish viewers over the last two days watching, none of the other EQ channels are even close to that. At any rate, Ragefire looks like it's going to a giant cluster of boxers and poopsockers, would not want to be on that server at all.

Glad that he got banned first cause that was my plan on dealing with 6 boxed mages.

Kungen is showing VoDs on twitch of training people on purpose. He even admits in one of them "what are the rules on training, can someone find them for me?" The fact that he's trying to tinfoil this idea that there are corrupt GMs, staff, etc is pretty hilarious. Holly, the producer of EQ and EQ2, is going to look into it. Moral of the story is, dont train people on purpose while livestreaming with 1,000 viewers. You'll get burned.

Just sayin..

They banned him because he is exposing the shit storm that is Ragefire already. They don't actually give a shit about people dying by trains.

Boxers are the money makers. Can't have them getting hassled.

apparently he's unbanned now / got his character back

one of his tweets:
SORRY FOR TRAINING GM's OR STAFF :(

MY MISTAKE.

also this was on his stream for a while
http://i.imgur.com/taf7r04.png way too big to use img tag imo

vod shows him training twice for about five minutes apparently as well.

I'm gonna be sad if this server ends up not actually being "wild west"-like. It's one of the few fun prospects.

If they banned the 3rd party software using boxers, EQ would not be the crap game it has become. And they would end up with more subscriptions overall.

The more boxers, the more server mergers. The more boxers. EQ is on a downward spiral. Unless they quit catering to the minority, it will never improve. Ban ban ban. And most 6 boxers are likely to be farmers. It will just make them get new accounts

The only losers will be the RMT'rs. The prices will go up.

Kungen didn't even need 3 days.

people need to learn how to train so it doesn't look like you're training even on a live stream

You know this is how casual players (I was one) felt about raiders back in the day. SOE pretty much focussed on catering to the powergamers (i.e. the raid crowd at the time) from Velious on regardless any naysayers. IIRC, the population peaked during PoP, when even the group content was explicitly geared at the powergamers (raiders), so they did have some success with their strat. Todays powergamer is the mass boxer, so Daybreak is basicly playing the same strat SOE did back in the day starting with Velious.

Interestingly, a casual-oriented game (hello WoW) knocked the socks off every other NA/Euro MMO before or since. I still wonder if WoW was actually fun to play before it became an instance vending system.

People say vanilla wow wasn't bad. But people say a lot of things. Personally, I ran screaming after the first 10 days. A bunch of my friends left EQ for the beta and thought it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Some of them still play and won't play anything else. The monkeys never flew out of my ass the way everyone said they would.

Honestly, it was a lot like going to a restaurant some friends discovered and raved about. You get there and it's so god awful you think you are being punked.

Tried again for like 2 weeks the following summer. Ran screaming again.

McDonald's sells lots of hamburgers, too, I guess.

They are too far down the rabbit hole to turn back now.

the reason that the "anything goes" policy was implemented was because Daybreak doesn't have the manpower to investigate incidents and enforce rules. if you stream yourself being a dickhead, though, then that makes it a hell of a lot easier for them to be sure that you're doing something dickish.

basically, it makes it impossible to use the "i was framed" excuse if you stream yourself training people with commentary.

no one plays on your huge fire giant server, anyone with an IQ over 90 knew it would be shit.
