Excited for it but skeptical as well. I backed it with their first KS, but I've not really seen anything yet. I've tried a few of their alpha tests, etc, but nothing to really judge it on. I'm more worried about the combat. I hope it works well.

Very much so, but they're over 13-15 months from release apparently and in pre-alpha stages, not to mention only 8 programmers. I wouldn't get my hopes up too high, look what happened with EverQuest Next. Although I have to admit, I do like how they're using a spellbook as a container for spells and abilities like in EQ, but the mechanics look too much like WoW, hope it's not just another WoW clone by the time it actually sees the light of day.

That actually looks really good. They obviously did their homework and want nothing to do with that overdone anime style so many games use lately.

I'm now keeping a closer eye on this game, so long as their art style also reflects reality and not fantasy.

Dark Age of Camelot, for me, was the only other game that EVER held a candle to Everquest and that was simply because of the diversity of the realms and the PvP.

Similar to p99, I played with my brother and we absolutely loved it. We still consider going back and trying to play it in a style reminiscent of what we're doing here on this server.

This new unchained game however, looks really neat. Thanks, I will definitely show him and keep an eye on this.

Holy shit those races are horrible... ass wings and furries for vikings, what were they even thinking? DAoC did a perfect job with depicting the races imho, this game looks like it really fucked up in this department. Other than that, looks pretty good.

but yea, this game looks surprisingly promising. when it first popped up on kickstarter i didnt have high hopes. lets face it, everything mark jacobs has touched since ToA has been garbage. daoc was a great game on accident

The game looks good in its own way, and will have its niche for sure.
The problem is it has no PvE. While I have never been a fan of Everquests system which makes undergeared players insignificant, I do like dungeons, questing and gearing. CU intends to have no real PvE market.
They have mentioned the depths, but it wont have any real impact. In essence, if you like exploration, encounters, and loot.. this game wont fill that need.

Darkness Falls comes immediately to mind as a PvE / PvP success story, as does the idea of getting more exp / loot in doing PvE hunting in the Frontier, adding to your risk of doing so due to PvP happening at the drop of a hat.

It WAS a fun part of the game. Shelving it entirely... It makes me curious how well it will do with the direction it takes.

From what I remember shadowbane had this to detect stealth players. When I played stealth players were a nightmare without one.

I completely agree. I'm highly skeptical of it doing well without some sort of pve. I will probably try it out for a little anyways but as I do with any new mmorpg, without high hopes.
