Q: Is frontal stun immunity enough to make you roll an ogre for your chosen class (where available)?

No frontal stun immunity has never hindered any aspect of my game play. Maybe I'm lucky...meh. I still solo/duo anything worth anything. For other classes, well, I don't care much :D

After extensive research and testing, I have determined that the best warrior races are, in order of Best to Worst:

Gnome
Half Elf
Wood Elf
Halfling
Dwarf
Dark Elf
Ogre
Troll
Barbarian
Iksar
Human

As you can see, aesthetics are important when choosing a race for your Warrior. Please don't make the mistake of choosing Ogre.

Played a ogre/warrior in classic and only because it seemed like a natural choice given the high stats. This was when I was 10-11 and didn't even know what powergaming was. Did that all the way up to LoY or LDoN. When I came back to live, and before learning about p99, I made the character I thought I always wanted, a dark elf shadowknight.

Never realized how much that frontal stun immunity helped until I was playing that character.

I'd like to see factual statistics on how much the frontal stun immunity impacts a raid compared to no frontal stun immunity. Not just people saying it's night and day.

For races that don't have a Flying Kick animation, they just fall back to the regular kick animation. Found this out when a GM on Live changed my entire guild's raid into Gnomes.

If I was making a warrior or SK it'd probably be an Ogre due to stats and frontal stun immunity. in velious, I'd rather make an Iksar due to the AC bonus/regen bonus if I was going pure defensive as a warrior or SK.
Yes, the AC bonus will matter in Velious and Velious has no weapon procs that make up for that. Plus while stunned your weapon's GCD keeps going anyways and you will hit when you are unstunned.

Depends on the class. Trolls make better shaman because of the regen bonus. Iksars come Velious might make better shaman, though, since they'll be able to use the clicky bracer.

With all the FSR noise on this forum, when playing a lowbie troll shaman in guk I would often see 'You can't cast a spell while stunned.'

Haven't rereolled yet, but when fighting multiple mobs I go to the effort of making sure their bash timers are in sync so I can better anticipate it.

I don't know for fact but I've heard that in raid content frontal stun immunity doesn't work and will be even more useless in end-game in Velious.

It's like talking to a wall. Ogre lovers will hit you with their frontal stun immunity if you try to say it's not required.

At the end of the day for me I care what I look at for hours on end. Ogre players are looking at a flesh colored balloon on their screen or forcing others to do so. I rolled a Barbarian for my shaman. Fucking polar bear...

The only reason I don't play ogres and trolls is because they only have 3 classes. If they had a bigger selection of classes I would jump on either of these races.

As an SK the frontal sun immunity is invaluble. It's helps with tanking, lifetaps, FD splits, fears, you name it. Absolutely love it.

What's with all the Ogre hate regarding looks? They are playable giants for all intents and purposes. Plus my ogre runs around with a shit eating grin. Few other races get that luxury.

The only thing that's not that thrilling about these snippets below, is I've face tanked all of these with no interrupts on my barb.. so its like yea you get those messages, but until you've done both and see that both dont get interrupted, its like just imaginary. (well i never tanked the general)

I played an Ogre Shaman on live from almost 6 years it is highly overrated. It is a very minimal difference maker. I rolled a Troll shaman here and am glad I did. They get the best of everything high hp and str, regen, plate/jbb. But there is no wrong Shaman race all are equal imo. Even when I was soling dragons in SOV there were trolls,barbs and ikky shaman doing it just as good if not better then I was. I can't speak for warriors or sk as I never played them.

haha, my first "main character" on P99 was a troll SK... guess what poor bastard had to pull CE in Mistmoore when there was no monk/bard/etc?

Yeah that's right, I'll squeeze through the doorway each time... casters killed me before I got outside a few times :D
