System Shock was released by EA.. do you know what EA has been doing to games in the last decade or so?

Oh you'll get System Shock 3 for $60. But you won't be able to play the REAL game unless you buy the "premium" version.

This is not a system shock thread.

Git out.

My erection was lost when I seen 111. Sounds like they are back on the east coast and I swear to god I thought I seen the Citadel from Fallout3 somewhere in there.

The fear of paid mods
Skyrim with Guns
I really hope they used advice from Obsidian/FO1, 2 and NV creators on this one. I still have nightmares about having a minigun with max skill, hopped up on all types of damage increasing drugs and having to reload 6-7 times on a mutant overlord at point blank range with all headshots. Oh god and ghoul reavers..

My hopes are low.

*Wall of Fallout Hate*

See, that's exactly why the Fallout games were so amazing: everything in that graphic is true, and yet despite all those flaws the game was still awesome.

Personally I'll never forget the moment in Fallout 3 when I was just randomly wandering the wastes and got approached by some kid from ant-town asking for help finding his parents. I hadn't hailed any quest NPC, or even gone within fifty feet of one; instead I had just been completely absorbed in exploring the post-apocalyptic world, and (it felt like) that world had come to interact with me.

Now in retrospect I understand that the game wasn't really that smart: the kid was just triggered by my proximity to ant-town. But still, when it first happened I felt like I really had become Mad Max, and that feeling was straight magical.

I can't wait for #4 (well, really #5, counting New Vegas).

West coast has been done to death, the desert makes sense for a game where travel is just a matter of clicking and watching a cross move on a map, but walking from area to area through a desert in real time is, frankly, pretty boring.

Even the north end of the map in F3 was pretty weak. The world looks a hell of a lot more interesting than both F3/NV already from the trailer.

Paid mods was torpedoed. Besides, the community really decides that, not the developer. If the developer wants to offer mods as a paid content add-on, let them, they'll already be releasing DLC later anyways. That won't stop the independents from releasing mods at the same time.

What mods were even worthwhile on F3/NV, anyways? The DLC was great for NV, little less so for F3, but none of the community add-ons were really worthwhile in my experience. Just a lot of 'home-base' locations, OP weapons and nude patches. I think project brazil is the only mod with substance and even that is only 1/3 done (they started making it before NV came out) with no real ETA on further development.

Fallout 3 wasn't great, but New Vegas was a true spiritual successor to the original series. It was funny, it was interesting, you had more bearing on the story the whole way through, it wasn't linear, it was amazing. Whine all you want about F3, a lot of the complaints on that SS are valid, but next to none of them apply to NV. If 4 is as much of a leap forward as NV was from 3, it's going to be the best game ever.

If 4 is as much of a leap forward as NV was from 3, it's going to be the best game ever.

The problem is that Obsidian designed NV. I have over 700 hours in NV, I love NV, played almost every weapon type in that game, all the DLC multiple times, every new game I explored something new, found something new, ect.

But Bethesda is behind FO4, they dropped the ball hard with FO3. I waited a few months before buying NV reading player reviews, youtubes, ect and I lost my shit for months playing. And I am going to be watching closer now to news on FO4 and hope they at least got some of the original devs consultation behind the making of FO4. As I stated, my hopes are low for FO4 just because of the bad taste FO3 left.

I'm fucking hyped as shit over Fallout 4. I explored every inch of Fallout 3 and it's DLC's
New Vegas was just a modded fallout 3 except for the DLC's for that.
Fallout 3 > New Vegas. anyone who disagrees knows nothing about the modding community. The only upside that new vegas had was it was on a newer iteration of the engine. beyond that it's simply a modded fallout 3.

I'm more hyped then anyone who ever lived on earth.

But Bethesda is behind FO4, they dropped the ball hard with FO3.
If i ever meet you in real **** **** ******* *** ***. You are a sick person (https://youtu.be/TVbqKOYBh5I?t=45s) and it's the only sensible action for someone like you.

Fallout 3 > New Vegas. anyone who disagrees knows nothing about the modding community.

A polished turd is still a turd. Fans had to fix the game, this is nothing to be proud of. And with Steam experimenting with paid mods, how much is that going to be?

Remember Albinos, Overlords, and Reavers? You are telling me you would pay someone 10 dollars to have reduced health/armor, IE balanced/fair/not boring as fuck sitting there for 4 minutes reloading and unloading hundreds of rounds of ammo into their skull?

Jauna I bet you're one of those jackass's who wants steam workshop to have paid mods. *facepalm* Why the fuck would I pay anyone $10 to mod a game that I mod myself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bobp5OHVsWY

Fallout 3 was perfect for what it was. You need to wake up and smell the radocative air and realize that New Vegas was Fallout 3, with a new map, quests overhaul, etc You can't dispute that.

It's not like the difference between say morrowind and skyrim. Those are two different games. Fallout New Vegas IS fallout 3 that was modded by the obsidian team after being ported to the newer version of the engine.

who gives a shit about the mistakes and plot holes. the game is damn fun, and the environment/immersiveness is damn good. I mean we play everquest ffs, it looks so bad in comparison to other games. Is this seriously an argument here?

Jauna I bet you're one of those jackass's who wants steam workshop to have paid mods.

I dislike the idea of paid mods, I had mods stolen from me on nexus and had them posted on Steam. I do not know where you got this idea that I wanted or liked paid mods, but right now you are probably so blinded by rage that someone hates something you obsessed over. But click your own link.

And I will disagree with you that New Vegas is just a mod to FO3:
Most of the original staff of FO1 and FO2 was working on it
Better story
More put together "world", smaller, but it had more content. FO3 was less content, and bigger world. This is not good or fun
Better side quests.
Better use of misc objects around the world
Better DLC, dont you sit there and tell me that Operation: Anchorage can hold a candle to Dead Money, or Point Lookout is as good as OWB. Because you would just be lying. The Pitt was awesome, I will give it that because it was the only thing that felt like Fallout. And lets not even mention Honest Hearts or Broken Steel to keep this thread getting moved to R&F
More weaponry, ammo and much, much.. much better perks.

New Vegas > FO3 in every way possible. Even the modding community swarmed to that game and stayed there. wanna know what mods I had for New Vegas to make it awesome?
Big bouncing titty mods
Removing the circle iron sight from the Cowboy Repeater
Increased Ammo Yield for Junk Rounds
Thats it. Vanilla weapons, vanilla armor, vanilla ammo, vanilla world*. I loved it to fuck and back.

I'll agree that we both disagree with each other. You are right though I am upset that someone dislikes something I obsessed over.

So back on topic. The art style of the Fallout 4 video seemed mildly cartoon-ish. am I the only one who felt that way? Yall think it will reflect that in game or it's just the style of the trailer?

Your argument is.. not right for the situation. EverQuest paved the way for 3d MMOs, the first of its kind. Yes I know there are were muds and other games like that, but everquest was the first, everquest is still there.

Fallout3 took a shit on the fans of Fallout 1 and 2, going from complex game mechanics, a world you can manipulate more than a few dialog options, go through the entire game without killing everyone and using the power of your voice to talk people from arming Doomsday weapons.. then fallout 3 happened. New Vegas gave me hope that Bethesda did not know what the fuck they were doing and put it into the hands of the people who did. 7 years have passed since FO3 released and hope they learned from their mistakes

depending on how you feel, that might make Fallout 3 the best or worst of them, so this seems like a pretty subjective comparison, though I understand the point you are making.

I loved the first two fallout games(plus tactics), but that had to evolve, and maybe devolve in some ways. If a company just services existing fans, it pretty much just rules out potential new fans and new play styles. I dont think the intention of bethesda was to insult any fans, but to try its best to live up to the old fallout games standards. I dont think there was any other company at the time that could of done better. I loved morrowind, and if anything comes close to the depth of that game, it has to be Fallout 3.

When a new company picks up where an old company left off, its foolish to expect the same as the previous company made.

Fallout 3 was basically just a modded version of Oblivion. It felt like I had already played the game because of that.

I hope Fallout 4 is a little more unique

Since i already attacked everyone on the subject of new vegas.

Bethesda is making an awesome 3d first person / 3rd person fallout game. I for one am extremely excited to play the campaign, build a base, and make some badass weapons and armour. The modding community is going to have a bloody field day with this one boys.
