So, I bought in to all the marketing hype and paid $50 to pre-order this:

I already use a PS2-like gamepad to play EQ sometimes (it helps with RSI), but the precision trackpad on the Steam controller (which they claim allows mouse-like control) convinced me to buy it.

Is anyone else going to buy one, either for their new Steam machine, or just to play their elf sim with?

Looks like a decent pad, would probably have to hold one in my hands before i spent $50 on it tho.

If they put out a PS2/3/4 lookalike and not just the xbox one I'd certainly get one.

Why not just use a PS4 controller? Thats what i use for other games.

already preordered it as well as the streamcast device. Looks like it will be a fun toy.

I've never actually used a PS4 controller, but in general the problem I've had with other console controllers is that they don't have the right level of precision when you want to use them to move the mouse. My hope is that the new Steam controller will get that aspect right (although, having never actually used one, I have nothing on which to base that hope).
