I know this is a 16 year old elf sim running titanium client ... technology has come a long way. My gaming rig is overkill for a game like this. For portability my wife has an Asus X200M small laptop.

Memory shouldn't be an issue. Ram is on the low side for modern rigs ... biggest bottleneck may or may not be the integrated graphics card.

Is this game old enough that a small machine like this could run it without too much of a problem? granted the resolution would have to be dialed down and i suspect spell effects turned down or disabled.

Thoughts?

I doubt that u will get an acceptable result as the graphics is integrated into the main cpu which isnt't fast to begin with.
On a sidenote, the Titanium Client isn't 16 years old and it had some significant changes to the original client.
Easiest way is to just install and try it, as you already have the client and the lappy.

Version / Edition Titanium Edition

Required Processor Class Intel Pentium III Processor
Recommended Memory 512 MB
Required Processor Speed 400 MHz
Recommended Disk Space 5 GB
Required Memory 256 MB
Required Disk Space 3.7 GB

This game could very easily run on any laptop/desktop bought at a big box store in the last decade.

Main thing will be to adjust your "Far Clip Plane" option to a very low number.

Everquest: Windows - Application Error:

The instruction at 0x02a045b4 referenced memory at 0x0370f0ec. The memory could not be read.

Click OK to terminate the program.

I get to the server select screen but this pops up - crash before character select.

Thoughts?

I'm wondering if it has to do with the craptastic Intel(R) HD Graphics.
Computer Specs aren't terrible otherwise - especially compared to Hardware from the era.
4 Gigs Ram (3.87 Usable)
64bit OS
1.86GHz

The wife's portable toy laptop really is that - tiny screen/keyboard, no CD drive, super light and touch screen. It's not super old - year and a half tops?

Can be virtually anything, from a virus due to porn download, to bad memory.
Check the graphics settings, in the driver if they are set to "Integrated Graphics Adapter"...

Hope you can get it to work. Technology sucks sometimes gah.

I had this issue, and I believe I fixed it by right clicking on the eqgame.exe, go to properties-> compatibility tab, switched it to win 7 and checked the box for run as admin.

This is not due to the PC's specs its a bug - probably the Win7 compatibility or a .ini issue.

PC is fine. Like the other person said this could run on a toaster (because I have run it on a toaster).

I look forward to the day of running it on my phone. Controls would be a bit odd though lol

Go into eqclient.ini and set the video parameters in the [VideoMode] section to whatever wierdness your laptop is set to. I've run EQ on integrated video and it's fine, orders of magnitude faster than what we ran EQ on back in the day :) -- Mg

Few options:

Change video res to match your laptop in eqclient.ini file

Right click your shortcut and make sure its running as admin and compatibility xp sp3

Running in Widows 7 compatibility mode fixed the issue.

The game actually runs better than i thought it would ... max res is 1300s/700s.

EC tunnel was slightly laggy before i turned off names, others spell effects and clip plane down.

All in all not bad - computer is cheap in the 100-200 range and really portable. It's a lot more portable than my G73-75 (i forget which) series Asus gaming rig.

Thanks for the help guys! :D

Yeah I've run it on a netbook and currently play on an XP machine I built several years ago.

I have a pretty good gaming rig, but for some reason I was plagued with "turn around lag", where when I moved up a hallway, turn a corner the video would lag and skip a half sec. At first it was annoying but it caused a couple of deaths. I tried all the helps, Wineq etc. did nothing for me.

I finally moved EQ to the SSD drive and everything is SILKY smooth now. SO NICE!

SSD is one of the best investments i've made for all gaming purposes ... including this 16 yr old elf sim.

This is usually caused by too large of a resolution set in the eqclient.ini file. Run in WindowedMode and dial the resolution back a bit.

Thread like this should really be in the Technical forum.

Go into the eq directory and run the options editor. That way the correct graphics card is seen by the game. I see this error when I copy the e dir to another machine with a different graphics cars. Also select the correct resolution there f you. If not edit the eqclient.ini so all modes list the correct resolution.
