Hey I was kinda wanting to get some nostalgia so I made a fresh ranger.

Any and all help would be appreciated as far as gear/advice. Wood Elf seemed to be the best choice. I was thinking of just going the crushbone route to begin with, any must do quests I should get at right away?

And I'll see all you out there!!

First embrace the fact that you're a huge underdog class. The good news is ranger weapons are absurdly cheap. Silver Swiftblade is practically free so use it at lv 20. Save 500pp for two 55 hp wedding rings.

Many times people will invite a ranger if there is no one else around to tank so gear toward AC and Hp's. Spam flame lick for infinite aggro. Bow dps is pitiful so don't even think about it in groups. When you get more established buy an FBSS and Woodsman Staff.

Crushbone till 15 then unrest till u get harmony then go mistoore. That might also be the most crowded path but that continent is sorta small

dem crushbone belt/pads will take you up to lvl20(focus on pads at the late teens). Exp from killing mobs will dry up but it is nice and easy before getting double attack.

Also, do not ever think of "what class is common?" Think about the class you want to stick with till lvl60. Playing something that's useful to others is quickly going to turn playing on P1999 into work rather than something you enjoy.

Welcome to P99!

Besides the belt quests, you can also turn in bone chips in Kaladim. There are also a couple in the ranger guild in Kelethin.

The best thing you can do to improve your character effectiveness at low levels is to get a decent weapon. My HEF ranger had difficulty with blue mobs until somebody gave me a Gigantic Zweihander (http://wiki.project1999.com/Gigantic_Zweihander). Playability completely changed with that. Any weapon with a .3 Delay/DMG or better ratio is a "must have". Check out the ranger equipment (http://wiki.project1999.com/Category:Ranger_Equipment) section of the Wiki. You can get a good weapon for 50p - 150p.

I should also mention Whip of Strangulation (http://wiki.project1999.com/Whip_of_Strangulation). Only 6/24 but it procs at L10. Very effective for low teens.

Play whatever class you enjoy.

Welcome, don't mind the ranger jokes lol

As a ranger make sure you are friendly with classes that can corpse drag and rez.

It is untrue that rangers die often, they are very efficient in running to a zoneline and surviving... Whoever might have been near the zoneline, is whole other thing
