Currently, if a summoned pet is charmed, it immediately poofs. I ran across the comment below stating that enchanter pets should poof when the bard's charm wears off.

Reply Duelling an Enchanter

-If they have a pet, charm it. Once charm breaks it will poof.

So two things that could be an issue on p99:

Pets should poof when the bard's charm wears off, not immediately when charm lands.
Charmed pets should be charmable. Only summoned pets are currently.

Thoughts? Does anyone have evidence or anecdotes either way?

As for 2, I think it's only referring to the enchanter's animation, not a charmed npc.

As for 1, some more quotes in a safehouse thread from early 2002 (http://www.thesafehouse.org/forums/forum/everquest-wing/the-arena/7965-possible-uber-weapon-versus-pet-casters):
Enchanters can do the same thing, but they also get a message "this spell cannot affect the targeted PC" or something like that, when trying to charm a pet.And enchanters don't use this tactic because the pet only poofs when charm wears off. Since an enchanters charm lasts significantly longer than 18 seconds (used to be 12 seconds) they have no reason to use it.It sounds like the charm landed despite an error message to the contrary, but didn't grant any control over the pet:Still, beleive me when I say, I would MUCH rather charm the pet and sick it on its master than charm/poof it.When the charm expired it probably followed the same code path that released a charmed pet, causing it to poof because it was a summoned pet.

Charm poofing was so obviously a bug that I question whether it should even be emulated here. If it's going to remain, then the above details must also be reproduced.
