Wondering if the level of the spell your casting makes a difference in how often your skill raises? My druid has crap Conjuration skill and my main dot fizzles like 50-60% of my mana before it goes off.
Does using low level spells like summon food / water increase the skill just as quickly as using higher level conj spells like my dots?
As far as I know, yes. The caps are mainly based on your level and class, as spells do not come with a trivial cap.

In terms of mana usage it's usually best to just spam the low level ones where possible - pick a moment where your group is on a med break, when you're sat in the tunnel or when you're watching a movie or something and can just spam it on the side.

I had the same issue. I made a macro to stand, cast summon water, pause, autoinventory, sit. I spammed that in a group for awhile. Raise ups happen.

I would welcome a change to classic client, but can you imagine the population hit?

I don't see why you couldn't watch a movie and play eq with the classic ui. Do people really not have a second monitor in 2015?

This is the only reason to buy otherwise trash spells like True North, to help raise skill to level cap before you purchase a higher level spell - that uses same skill - that you really need.

But but but... what about completing your spellbook? Surely you have an uncontrollable urge welling up from deep within the unexplored abyss of your unconscious mind that compels you to fill your spellbook? You must do this, it is not optional. You must!

Get some C2 in EC tunnel, and spam summon drink or summon food over and over. :)

I hear Netflix works well with your console and TV. Just putting that out there <3

Getting the small patch required to convert your p99 directory to a more classic client won't be hard to come by. :) unless of course you mean players getting upset at the lost features and refusing to play

Also, remember for classicness you can Alt+K and play your favorite tracks while grinding ;)

Yea, if you get caught EQing at a bad time, just explain it is an interactive animated skin for your computer's MP3 media player.

Just to add to this convo, if you are trying to level Divination and are a Mage, spam Sense Summoned (5 mana per cast). You don't even need C....

On live I played a Wizard, so conjuring a familiar was tough at first -- high mana cost + very low conjuration skill = lots of fizzling + oom fast. I'd spam Eye of Zomm (level 8 spell) to skill up conjuring.
I started playing in Velious era, but it may have been Luclin or PoP era when I had this experience. (Maybe familiars weren't even introduced until Luclin or later? Probably.) So the functionality to level up skill with a low level spell did exist at some point on live, but I'm not sure if it was classic functionality nor if it's been implemented on p99.
